Lightning Strike e-bike

I'm hoping for a commuter (adv) electric bike. Seems like the tech is there for reasonable prices at least.

Looks like 2019 will be battle of electric bikes. I wonder what ever happened to that mini they had at Refuel. Why dont' they sell that? I've never seen anyone actually ride the Lightning bikes also. =/

i rode the Grom Killer.
It was killer.

I think the best commuter electric bike is the BMW C Evolution scooter. It's got lots of storage, comfy, fast, and you only have to plug it in at night.

The biggest downside is that its a scooter, AND a BMW. :laughing

And also, according to LinkedIn they have 15 employees and aren't hiring anyone.

Zero, in comparison, has 200 employees..

Kinda suspect.

Yes, I would agree. Vehicle production, even if it is only a motorcycle, is serious business. Its not like making a buggy GoPro.

Looks cool, probably vaporware. I'd love to see it happen but it seems unlikely.

I rode a couple of their models, and was really shocked at how good they are. Full disclosure: I was not a fan of electric bikes prior to that....the test ride changed my perspective.

Not vaporware :)

Please kidnap their PM if traction control isn't.

Low production, high cost >>>>>>>>> High production, low cost is a big step

The engineering on a race motorcycle/ race car can be relatively simple.

I hope it happens. I'm still very psyched about my Zero, but I look forward to newer, more bad-ass models to ride.

I was patient in the early seventies when LED wristwatches were $300 and you had to use two hands to read the time. I am optimistic about electric motos, and patient.

Now, if like the Burger King promotion where an electric wrist watch was just given away with a meal, those bikes come down in price I'll have one after I move to The Villages.

Your preaching to the choir, but Lightning has a lot of ramping to do. Zero has been struggling for over a decade.

I'm really curious about Lightning as well. I think the race tech has helped them figure it out - as they do have an assembly line in SJ supposedly.

I don't know what the electric motorcycle demand will be - but I somehow doubt they need to churn out hundreds of bikes today.

Motorcycle sales have declines heavily as we all know, and electric motorcycle sales are not exactly AMAZING.

What if they made.. 3 a day? That's 15 a week. If you're moving 15 bikes a week is that good? Is that bad?

I don't know anything about motorcycle manufacturing.

If they have only 15 employees then manufacturing is definitely out sourced. Probably any warranty work or repairs also ...

Sure, you can "outsource" manufacturing, but even then you can't outsource supply chain management, marketing, sales, etc etc. Just because Mercedes outsources G-Wagen manufacturing to Magna Steyr doesn't mean they have 15 people in the whole company running the G-klasse program.

Just doesn't add up.
