Lightning Strike e-bike

They should have a beer party at their san Jose location!

So the 200 mile range model is actually 20K.

The 13K model has 70 miles range.

So the one with all the bells and whistles is $20k. That's not bad it literally has double the battery capacity of the Empulse TT and you can charge it with levels 1-3. It would have been nice if the other bikes had the better charging systems. i wouldn't mind the 15kwh version if it can do level 1-3 and 2 at 6.6kw. Or even the 10kwh version because the faster you can charge would make range less of an issue. I think they have it ass backwards if you ask me. Maybe they have different charging options for the lower spec ones.

And the answer to my question:
Strike comes standard with Level 1 and Level 2 charging capability with Level 3 DC fast charging as a $1,500 option. Standard onboard charger is rated at 3.3 kW with an optional 6.6 kW onboard charger available for $1,500.

So I guess you have to choose do you want faster Level 2 charging or the ability to DC Fastcharge or both maybe for $3k extra?

I hope they work on that seat it doesn't look very comfortable. But who knows maybe it is, it's made by Corbin

Additionally, Strike Carbon Edition is outfitted with Lightning’s Performance Package including top-level industry components Öhlins front and rear suspension, Brembo Monoblock brakes and AIM Strada racing dash with lap timer and GPS-based data logging.
Very nice, but not even ABS?

Posting up to say: Putting my money where my mouth is and just put down a deposit.

I've been waiting for a fully-faired electric bike for years and I'm sorry, but the Energicas are just not my cup of tea aesthetically. Can't wait to sling a leg over one of these. Gonna be sad to potentially give my ICE bikes the heave-ho. Somehow I think I'll get over it though...

They did have a bike night at SJ BMW a while back was pretty dope.

No sh!t, where's the local love, Lightning? Show that thing off around the Bay. Get people hyped!

For Electric Motorcycles, this is a great value for the specs.

Looks great. Let's hope they can build it. They are just a little startup.

Is it even possible it has no ABS?

Why go through the effort of developing a bike for the everyday rider and then leave out such an important piece??

People we're doing just fine before ABS. You don't NEED it.

Finally revealed. I don't know, I'm kinda liking the Zero's styling for everyday riding vs. the Strike. But still, we are going in the right direction for specs and price. Not putting down a deposit until these are in full production mode...

Does anyone know if there exists any venue to try a demo or at the very least see a physical instantiation of one of these bikes and talk to someone about it? The Carbon Edition looks genuinely interesting to me, but 20k sight unseen is an unlikely proposition.

It's a mystery bike so far I have yet to see a working bike in a video or IRL. =/

Ya, no demo bikes that I know of. I put down a deposit, and they didn't send me any extra info or even a brochure, just a generic receipt.

Man, Bay Area electric motorcycle manufacturers are now 0 for 2. Mission Motorcycles - strike one. Alta - strike two. I don't even know what Onyx and their electric moped-y motorcycles are about, and whether they're actually being produced.

Honestly, even if Lightning goes under, I'll still be happy with a Strike, assuming it doesn't have any major issues. If it turns into a $20,000 paperweight though, I won't be so thrilled. Caveat emptor I guess.

Does Scotts Valley not count as part of the Bay Area?

Well Lightning has been around since 2006. There is no denying they have made history like fastest production bike, pikes peak, etc...

They're only now getting into more mass production. The LS-218 is pretty much a custom superbike. I was sad they did not race the LS-218 at Refuel TT also or least take it for a spin on the track (they had someone's LS-218). Then i would have been on the track with 3 different superbikes!
