McRib

I forgot about this thread. Had one for lunch last Friday. Tried anyway. Got queasy about halfway through the sandwich and decided to forego the rest of it. Something about the mushy texture and the bland flavor was just cloying and ick. The fries weren't helping either, stale and unsalted.

I don't know what it is about McDonalds lately but they've been disappointing the last few times I've gone. Now I need to go find and bump my doner kebab thread...

ah, doner kabab... I have been searching for one like the one I had back in '01 in Berlin... the hunt continues.

The pursuit is half the fun, eh? Not!

At this point I'm pretty well convinced we have to fly back to Germany every time we want a fix.

What's funny is I've been to several Turkish restaurants here in California and they've all disappointed. I think you have to be German of Turkish descent to make a decent doner kebab. :laughing

Werd. McRib is one of the nastiest food items ever created.

McDonalds is pretty inconsistent. Some locations are better than others.

It’s why places like In-N-Out/Chic-Fil-A are great. Always fresh and hot, good service.

First of all, bullshit. Nastiest food item? What the hell ever. You're acting like fucking sandwich pickle doesn't exist. Or goddamn vegemite. Or that horrid bullshit known as kombucha. :rolleyes

I'll agree with your second point, though.

As for your third, it's really easy to always be fresh/hot when you have basically five items on your menu in which you just mix-n-match to create different meals.

I nearly threw up the first time I tried that fermented satan's piss (out of curiosity). Like why?

I swear kombucha is just like IPAs in that people only drink it because they think it's the "cool" thing to do. Damn hipsters want people to think they actually like the stuff...but we know... :laughing

Can’t get any fresher fries than what you see at In&Out. I mean I see the kid cutting the potatoes right there. Yet for as fresh as they are, In&Out has got to have by far the worst fries out of any of the fast food type places. Completely tasteless crap. Only when you bomb them with salt are they halfway decent. And then it’s really just a salt delivery device.

McDonalds fries are partially cooked then frozen before they are sent to the stores. More than likely laced with preservatives. Then they are deep fried, still frozen, in McDonalds special oil. So in the end, the McDonalds fries wind up being comprised of almost 19 different ingredients. Versus the maybe 3-4 tops at In&Out.

Welp. If that’s what makes them taste soooo much better, then yup sign me up. Give me the chemicals!

I think Micky fries have a beef component key to their tastiness.

I am unfamiliar with Kambucha, but the Mayo Clinic says “In short, there isn't enough evidence that kombucha tea delivers on its health claims. At the same time, several cases of harm have been reported. Therefore, the prudent approach is to avoid…”

Prudent approach in the McRib thread?:rofl Plus 1 on the mayo mention.
I had my first McRib of the season recently and it met my expectations.

I recommend ordering “extra crispy” fries. I think their term is “well done.” Though the carcinogens are higher (whatever, we all have to die some time) - once you go extra crispy, you’ll never go regular again.

…Mickey D’s fries were much better before they changed the oil 20+ years ago.

Digging the detailed ingredients list.
Ingredients in bun - bread
Ingredients in sauce - stuff
Ingredients in pork - feces and all other pig crap not used to make regular ribs

Surprised the food industry isn’t lobbying to replace ingredient list with simply a picture of the product. Just look at the picture you can see what’s in it.

Not my first rodeo. I eat an absurd amount of fast food every week. Tried the well done thing many times. They’re no better as far as I’m concerned. My wife thinks they’re better that way but still a far cry from fresh out of the oil McDonalds fries.

And yeah they were better before they reformulated the oil to take out trans fat. Still good though.

Not gonna start a thread as it's not 100% yet, but this surreptitious photo of McDonald's event calendar has been making the rounds on the 'net today...
