My OG mend has started.

Needs air bag suspension,
maybe the high pressure launch feature ?
Blow you off the seat, to stick a standing pose, , ,

Floor boards, for what position ?
Rear sets?

Which leg ?
I broke a left Tibia,
I rigged a hand clutch in my F 100, to get around, independently.
Let my friends off the helping hook.
I had a cast cover and a stool in the shower, for my med aids.
I wrote in to a Snowboard magazine with my cast pix, and got a new board too.
My first ride back in the fat boy's saddle, was to Mariposa for the rally, wandered around with a cane, I mostly carried it, workin' my rehab.
:mstingray to :ride, , ,:applause

glad to hear you're making progress Budman. Sorry to hear about your potty problems, when I got my hip replaced I was lucky the house I was in had higher toilet but no grab rails.

Toilet. I am pissed that Mr Crapper was a short man. 16” is low when you got a broken leg and no tails to help. Failed miserably.
As i mentioned before, the toilet was what got me after hip replacement. I fell because it was too low and I didn't have an extension. Not only did i feel like an idiot, it really screwed up my rehab in a big way.
Seriously, if I was in your shoes, i would just have it replaced with a tall toilet before I got home, and also have a extension/riser available... it'll be the best money you ever spend, imo.

I posted a link to the extension seat with handles. I like this type because they fit well, look OEM and the handles are removable.

I hope I don't have a black eye

We are supposed to learn from our, and our friend's, mistakes.

Senior moment.

I am 5 months post TKR and still do good leg up and bad leg down. Give yourself time.

+3 on the higher white throne.

Just a year or two ago I replaced both our toilets with the tallest available locally (Home Depot & 19") as well as being advertised (with video) of being able to flush a bucket of golf balls.
I was very pleased with how that extra 3 inches helped my old knees.
And they're Mrs Budman friendly too as they would be... brand new.

Hey Budman... can you have visitors yet? Do you want visitors, yet?
I'm not very far away and would be pleased to stop by and do what I can to lighten your 'tude.
Deliveries possible. Just dm me your needs.

We need an injured rider emoji.

I've used this one before...

Sending healing vibes to you Bud. Keeping your mental healthy during all this is hard, just celebrate the small wins and keep pushing forward.

I think the mental health aspect is difficult to deal with. I mean you have to deal with whatever limitations are put on you physically.

Just to re-up on the injury.
9/26/25 6ish PM.
Slipped in stair wearing socks and with both legs straight forward fell 36” straight down catching the edge of the stair tread just below the butt on the right leg.

High energy break. Clean thru. Surgery Saturday AM. Rod/ screws. The last two and 1/2 weeks in the Vi Rehab Nursing facility in Palo Alto.

Status as of today.
Release likely next Friday.
Doing stairs as the major focus with PT. Going up is Ok. Coming down sucks.

Yesterday I got dizzy 3 times. Uncomfortable for sure. Doc said it was likely due to the large blood loss from surgery. So far good today.

Skipped pain meds last night and the leg really hurt this AM. I have been self weening off the drugs and found out that was also the plan by the Doc.

Got a few smiles from seeing friends go to Kernville and feeling for the Reach helicopter crew a bit more deeply than maybe I would generally.

Being laid up sucks.

Some MotoGP to watch. Some exercises to do… and more boredom to deal with.

Yea, the mental aspects can be hard to deal with when your body can no longer do what it used to be able to do. Fortunately for you, those changes are only temporary. After my stroke, those changes are permanent.

And I also experienced dizziness. Sometimes, when getting out of bed, it would feel like I’d been riding a tilt-a-whirl. Very disconcerting.

Keep up the good work!

Managing pain robs you of your cognitive resources; couple that with physical limitations and it’s difficult to keep putting on rose colored glasses. Hang in there Budman. At least when you get home you’ll have your furry buddies to spread sunshine.

Keep on keeping on Budman, good news is your audience here gets it.

You wouldn't have survived and died within several days after the fall,
had no one knew you were injured,, or provided help.

The prompt medical care has improve that outcome.

The boredom, the cabin fever, a locked dog staring out the window.

I find little routines, reflections on good memories and poking my nose into things like "What again was the Magna Carta?"

Friend visits with food are highlights.

I remember the line in "Fences" by August Wilson, "You gotta take the crookeds with the straights, that's what Papa use to say."

Had amazingly weird dreams. Missed breakfast because sleeping felt good. Getting closer to be able to get on my side I think. The right cheek and quad continue to hurt. Pretty consistent if not laying down.

Doing my own PT.

I am actually watching car racing today. Talledaga COTA F-1.

Lunch just showed.
