NFL 2018/2019 Thread

And all of those questions were there last year as well. The only added spice to the gumbo is Saquon. You've said as much yourself by hoping he can take some pressure off Eli by putting the D on its heels.

He is the hinge. The single basket. All the eggs. Or no eggs at all.

Go ahead and spin it. You're definitely top flight at that. Hope is a good thing. I'll still be here if it doesn't work out...again. :twofinger

Honestly, if you can't tell the difference between this year and last, you just aren't watching the game that closely. :dunno

I will buy you the first $14 beer if you DARE attend the game. But I won't have tissues on-hand for your tears...you'll have to provide them yourself.

I have to admit if it's before October I'd rather watch it in my living room. Essentially the same as watching it from the concourse except better seating. :twofinger

If the games in October or later I may be down depending on how much y'all want to pay for seats.

And don't worry. I'll bring the Kleenex...for whoever is the sobber in the end. :twofinger

I might have to get tickets to this game. It's in November! If I do we need to meat up so I can collect the promised beer!

We just ignoring that Sherman fucked his achiles, didn't come back from it, and is old and will want huge money still?

Dude's not gonna be the same again, ever.

In some ways I wish he’d stay with the Seahags. Would be wonderful to see him get burnt for TD by JG and crew. Then I think, nah, I’ll enjoy it wherever he lands.

Why do I have a feeling this is going to come back to haunt me? Sherm can't even get through a week's worth of practice without being listed on the injury report. :facepalm

They are unsure. This is a new year with a new Front Office. Win Now was 2 years ago under McAdoo. Spent a ton on free agents, made a terrible coaching change, Got one Good season and one terrible nightmare season and flushed the whoel thing. Now we are essentially in a rebuilding mode, but not really willing to admit it since we still have our old great(ish) QB and some really hot talent on both sides of the ball, despite the fact that our fundamentals on both sides of the line are junk.

With one of the best Safeties, WRs, and TE's in the game on the roster with a proven Superbowl MVP QB, they aren't willing to admit that a full build is what we need. Kind of suffering in the middle on direction. I think this draft will define it.

That is kind of where I have been with it. I like Barkley to be the next Adrian Peterson, but our line was weak last year and it is even worse after free agency this year. Eli has never been shit without protection, and the best RB in the game will only change that so much. I guess your play action gets more effective, which is good for his arm being weaker than it used to be, but still, if a three hundo is dry humping your helmet 1.2 seconds after the snap, play action doesn't mean much.

Yeah, I think passing on Chubb was wildly stupid, putting him opposite of Myles Garret would have been the most terrifying front this side of the Houston Texans when healthy. I also think Squanbark or one of the other QB's would have been a better pick for them, but the went for thte full boat circus you were hoping for from somebody.

I am very curious to see what my guys do with both Tackles upgraded, a rookie Guard who is a mauler, and the new RB Supreme. I suspect our offense might look more like the rebuilt tough running New Orleans least year, but with more Catchers.

Well, also, if Flowers moves to the other side, it is potentially an upgrade at both tackle positions, with Hernandez being a mauler for a first year guard. 2 big questions, well 3. If Eli can make plays still when given the opportunity, if these revamped o-line can gel into a useful unit, and if all involved parties can stay relatively healthy, this is the most stacked Offense in the NFL on paper. If curious to see if paper goes into play under the new coach. Clearly last year was a morale loss to a locker room divided.

I think the O-Line is potentially a lot better with the addition of Hernandez and a change at both tackles. I think letting the Niners steal Richburg was a terrible mistake, but this line has the potential to be a lot better than the last 2 years, which were straight bad. I can only hope that Barkley live sup to the hype, he certainly by all observable evidence appears to be a game changer.

I want to believe in my man, but watching him last year, the arm just was not there. Like, even medium throws that were not complicated windows were slow and wobbly. It seem like his arm strength just was not where it needs to be last year. It could have been timing, I mean, with your TOP 3 WR out hurt, one can only expect a dude to do so much and your timing and rhythm suffer, but still, I worry about 38 years old. My hope is a new coach and some strength training can get that handled. The 2011 Offense was simply a pick your poison nightmare more than any Defense could handle, I would love to see that on the field again.

The Defense is a huge question mark for NYG. Switching to a 3-4, moving DE to OLB, I think the overall effect on the Front 7 will be net positive and probably better than last year. With the exception of Landon Collins being one of the best in his position in the game, most the rest of the secondary is suspect. FS is a question, Eli Apple and Janoris Jenkins are good starters, but after that, we have a garbage heap of low picks and undrafted free agents that we are hoping will bubble up to useful.

We need an unproven front 7 to be disruptive enough to not expose how weak we are against the long ball. Sounds like a problem.

The offense will swing one of two ways. It will either be the Nuclear Powered monster that it should be on paper and provide top 5 level play, or it will fall on its face and Eli will be forced into retirement. This team has more top tier receiving weapons than any in the league and now the Monster Back with sft hands who was the missing piece. The O-Line, while not the same level of protection the Saints, or Shitbirds are getting, is upgraded this year to a middle of the pack Unit, a reasonable cast of professionals. An offense this loaded simply cannot fail unless the QB is junk. If Eli cannot get back to his 2015 form after 2 years of terrible O-Line protection, he should probably walk away.

Honestly, if you can't tell the difference between this year and last, you just aren't watching the game that closely. :dunno

I'm just going by your own words, Eldy, and there a lot of qualifying statements mixed in that are still question marks that weren't answered by the end of last season nor will they be until the this season starts. :dunno

:laughing awesome post

It's on a Thursday though! I think it may be better to meat at a sportpublike facility. Let's work it out!

Are you still going to the game? If you are then we could just meat up somewhere on the concourse during the game? Say after the first quarter or halftime? If you aren't I'm happy to hang at a neutral bar like Fred's Place (;)) after work if you'd prefer? We may even be treated to a wild Budman sighting. :teeth

I don't phantasy. I may swing by for an intro and hang out to watch/enjoy the proceedings. But if I remember correctly they don't have a TV do they?

I feel like you are making noise just to make noise? Like, nothing you quoted from me contradicts anything else I have said. I mean, I keep saying, the Offense is a monster on paper, they well either go Nuclear or Eli will be a bust and they have to get a new arm and continue to develop the O-Line and the Defense. I'm opting to buy into the former rather than the latter. Is that not clear?

:dunno

Hella Hoppy is better :x

I can swing by Altamont and get a couple Crowlers -- they are 24oz cans that they fill and seal themselves on site :thumbup

If the offense doesn't work the defense would have to be stellar to make the Gantis even get a whiff of postseason. You've already admitted there are too many questions for that to be solid.

The offense is only going to work if Saquon is the shit and can put opposing defenses on their heels at least long enough for old-noodle arm to not end up with some three hundo's nut sweatz dripping in his eyes each time he drops back to throw.

Saquon is going to have to be good enough to cover any lack of coordination in a revamped front 5 at the beginning of the season. Really give them game time together to gel as a unit. He is the key. Hence all the eggs in a single basket. :dunno

My contention is there are just too many ifs for it all to come together this year. Still rebuilding. There are just too many eggs and the basket that is Saquon isn't going to be able to hold/take care of them all.

they have 2 or 3 but they're small. check it out. might be better at a BJs or BWWs after all.

better yet, show up to Cloverleaf bowl. they have a ton of TVs.

mission pizza still has the best beer selection tho

Man I still keep hearing shit about Mack being potentially traded.

If I'm SF I'm absolutely giving up 32 and 64 next year to get him.

hella hoppy is bomb :thumbup. I would usually get a single over a double IPA, but some of them dubs are too good to pass up on . I also had a Hoptologist at Mission. Very tasty. Knee Deep knows what they're doing.

I mean, if we're talking crowlers we should also be talking someone host it at their place, no? I have a kegerator that we could either use or I could fill up a growler to bring somewhere. Or are you thinking about tailgating?
