NFL 2018/2019 Thread

he has one more year. his rookie contract had an option for a 5th year. the raiders exercized that option. for 13.8M. I mean, it's not a shitty deal. but he's at least an $18M guy if not more. I can see where he's coming from. It just sucks that they can't come together and work it out so as to not hurt the product on the field.

Yeah, I mean to me that says, play out your fucking deal, we will pay you when it is over if you are a team guy. The only alternative to that is the inmates running the asylum.

1 year 13.8M is a HORRIBLE deal for a Top 5 defender in the league, and Mack had no choice in the matter because the CBA implemented rookie contracts.

Also the "play out your contract" argument doesn't hold water considering that teams can cut players any time and not have to pay the full contract amount.

NFL players get absolutely fucked on contracts and their careers are incredibly short on average. They should get as much as they can as fast as they can.

You say that like players should have equal leverage in negotiations? They are fucking staff, not partners. Give them some good money, sure, but don't treat the fucking help like they are in charge.

:dunno

Uhh fuck yes they should.

Without players you don't have shit.

LOL, Players are a dime a dozen. You sound like a fucking Union guy. The average American earns around 1.5 million dollars in THEIR LIFETIME. I am supposed to cry for the guys that earn a NFL MINIMUM $435k a year? This means that by the end of their average 3 Year Career they have already earned almost as much of what other Americans make in AN ENTIRE LIFETIME.

This guy doesn't want to stick by his word? Fucking hang him out to dry, suspend his contract in legal hell until he breaks, and collect back any bonus funds he has already been issued while making him unable to sign with other teams. Sometimes you need to remind labor who the fuck is in charge. Players DO NOT own the business.

If there were one thing that would make me stop watching the NFL it would be a dramatic decrease in the talent on the field. The players can carry on living wild lives off the field. They can sit on their helmets during the national anthem. They can be idiots raging on roids. None of that matters to me. If the talent and play drops off it’s little more than watching NCAA and that’s already a thing. If the owners want to act like hogs and shove the players away from the trough then fuck them all. It is a partnership or at least it should be. I wouldn’t want the players running the show any more than I think the owners should wield the type of control you’re propping up.

:laughing Poor K-Mack and his miserable 13 million per year. :laughing

The reality is, the talent would not decrease at all, because this guy will go back to life making $40k a year if he leaves the sport. Literally anyone on earth should be stoked about making 13 mill a year, even for a potentially lethal high risk job. If he had no other options, he would appreciate the fuck out of this opportunity, the only reason this happens is because some teams let guys get away with it.

I mainly blame the Agents for being a bunch of greedy shysters more than I blame the players, but players need to be reminded they do not own the sport, they are invited to participate in the sport by the people who own it. They are guest performers in houses that have in some cases existed for nearly a century. They should tread with gratitude and respect.

LMAO.

Take that exact same mentality and apply it to the owners, who don't do fuckall except put a percentage of revenue back into player salaries.

When contracts all become fully guaranteed, then the players can shut up and play until it's over. Until then, when teams can cut a guy and not nearly pay him what THEY AGREED TO PAY HIM, then they can fuck off.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if all the players were to strike at some point in the season.

Remember what a joke The NFL was when the "professional" referees took a break?

It's odd to me that you post something like this yet don't see through the same lens when it comes to the owners and league. Sure, the owners own the franchises and are partners in the league. There are no league or franchises without the players. It really is a symbiotic relationship. Treating it as a quid pro quo with respect to the poor folks busting into money through their hard work and body ruining exertions being required to shut the fuck up because they should just be thankful for the opportunity seems out of balance. :dunno

I love the Crying Jordan, especially when things happen like me seeing the Urban Myer Crying Jordan before even reading a article that he was suspended. Peak internet meme culture. :laughing

:rofl

Take that mentality and tell each business that, fuck tell our government this. And this is why we should get handouts before we make it to social security age.

Im onboard, but this wave your trying to overcome, there is no endsight to it :thumbup

Keep politics out of it.

You're talking about around 1700 people who are the best in the WORLD at what they do. Acting like they don't deserve everything they are paid and probably more compared to the revenue that they generate is fucking retarded

Well, Johnny Football looks like a guy that's been playing for a team for about 5 days...

4 interceptions in the first half, a couple the receivers should have had, but they weren't ready/expecting. Montreal is just a bad team....

Manziell's biggest play was pummeling DB that intercepted a pass in the open field.

Dude. 13 Million. In a year. To play a game as entertainment. That does not have anything to do with revenue from endorsements, interviews, etc. etc. etc.

:hand

I'm done with it. Excited my Fantasy league is drafting in 3 Weeks. My plan is to do all I can to draft Eli, Saquan, OBJ, Shep, and Ingram. My season will live or die in Blue!

shit that reminds me I need to think of a new team name.

American Hoyer Story probably won't work this year.
