NFL 2018/2019 Thread

You know who else doesn’t have jobs in the NFL? Baalke, Tomsula, and whichever Kelly it was that sucked on both coasts. :dunno

It's true. I often wondered if it was protection that made Kaep look so bad, then I thought. naaaaaah. It's him. I don't think his team wanted to protect him that much and that is downright dangerous when that happens. What makes anyone think that a new situation would be any better for him? It's crazy.

But you are right. They are all gone except Jeddy York, who has done a beautiful disappearing act in the new Niner era.

PS Adding in that Kaep did not have a quick release which would further doom him now. It has become essential now, even with all the new protection rules. That game last night with Rodgers and Brady was kinda insane with the speedy stuff. Patriots started with two-minute offense at the beginning of the frickin game.

Before he started his protests, when they asked him to cut his salary in half and he said no and made $14M in 2016 staying in SF instead of $7M in Denver?

Odd that they didn't offer him a deal after he opted out of his contract that next season though, huh

No it wasn't odd. We had this discussion a few weeks ago in another thread... Or this one.. ha. He worked himself out of the league. The only thing interesting will be Elway's deposition if it's ever made public. Kaep thought he was gold. Nobody else did.

Baalke works for NFL operations, Tomsula is the Redskins D-Line coach, and Kelly is back in college where he belongs.

:laughing this is such complete bullshit

Yeah, that's your opinion. I watched every game, did you? Seriously. :laughing :laughing :laughing The body language, the resentment by the defense at how many minutes they were playing, I guess that's all bullshit too. But I admit, I am still mad at myself for wasting away the hours watching that trainwreck and certainly, York, Baalke and others may have been the culprits and I misread it as lack of confidence in Kaep. Whatever. But keep your fantasy alive that it's his kneeling bit that is keeping him out of work.

And in fairness, AFTER the protest bit started, then he got support for his social causes by teammates. But I doubt we'll ever hear the real story of what went on in those days, because they are professionals. I was truly shocked that they gave him an Eshmont, in case you are planning on lobbing that at me.

I dunno, I watch the Raiders and wonder what's going on there as well. Carr says they're all in it, but....they do not look like they want to fight anymore.

Meanwhile, this just popped up to revisit the good old days:

Baalke is in the NFL main office now? Just when I didn’t think the NFL could get slimier...

yea tons of execs and former players get jobs in the league.

Former Niners, etc, defensive back Darryl Pollard is a uniform inspector, for instance. He pretty much goes to games and looks for players wearing shit they're not supposed to.

I was laughing about this last night where a ball-carrier was being held back by his loose shirtail from underneath his uni. Multiple defense guys had grabbed onto him giving him an inverse wedgie of the neck. I thought "isn't there a rule about this???":laughing

WTF was with the NOS receiver pulling they phone out from under the goal post padding? Just plain old stupidity or what?

Cheesy-ass flip phone and he doesn’t even sell making a call and an ensuing coversation? He’d have been better off spending the fine money on some acting lessons and doing a pantomime of pulling phone out of his uni pants and making he call. No fines against celebrating anymore so he’d have put the money to good use learning a skill. As it is he’s gonna pay a fine for a half-hearted and lame (imo) attempt at celebrating.

That was a homage to Joe Horn who did that in 2003

Right down to grabbin’the oxygen mask on the bench. :laughing

Pretty thoughtful, team history respectful, and NOLA fans loved it.

Can’t find any fault in it, other than the penalty which didn’t matter anyway.

It was stupid and selfish for the situation, the Rams got the ball back closer to midfield, but Buck and Aik knew what was up even though they went with their holier than thou routine.

And he could have done the whole thing without the flag and the fine...by pantomiming it all. Didn’t have to get an actual phone involved as a prop. The folks who remembered it would have been satisfied. And the folks who didn’t know it was an homage, like me, would have been more entertained. Plus it would have given all you “real”fans an opportunity to lay down your knowledge. Win win win.

If anybody actually liked Terrell Owens I'm sure someone would've done the popcorn/pom-pom/autograph thing as an homage. :dunno

Anybody see the CFL lineman run over to the stands and chug a beer after his team scored? Can't imagine that ever happening in the NFL....
