NFL 2020

I landed at SFO at about 1, so I was driving home and missed the first few drives.

I mean, he's just not starting caliber. UDFA forced to start - which also shows how bad Beathard is - but the kid stares down WRs, misses throws anyway, has balls batted down, etc.

Wanting to keep him and release Jimmy is... I just can't. :laughing

Fangio might be available to DC again this offseason.

Actually I would love him back in SF assuming Saleh gets hired by Detroit or someone else

Y'all just need to grab a bag of shotguns and all stand outside of Saleh's office shouting "NOOOOOO!!!!!" At all the GM's as they come sniffing around.

That is my plan for Patrick Graham. :laughing

We could send Saleh a copy of the Peter Principle, which plays out so often in NFL coaching promotions. You know, where they are great at DC then fail at the overall job. The early game had the camera on Jack del Rio and the announcers were hyping a bid for him to go be HC somewhere. Talk about deja vu.

Ahem, as for Mullens and yer little dialogue with Mikey.

I thought he had made a step up and become confident two games ago. Thing is, he still has made some accurate, ultra-quick passes with success. He has a very fast release, almost like Rivers but not quite as weird looking, just watch the videos. But he has also had overthrows or anticipated poorly, resulting in picks or incompletions.

He is not the only thing wrong yesterday but he seems to be moving in the Jay Cutler mode of overall bad luck and lack of confidence causing young receivers to drop or tip what they do get. He doesn’t have the leadership of Jimmy, who we saw play some games once upon a time. He will probably have a few good games now that its meaningless. Losing Deebo early on spoiled what they really needed even though there were still some good exchanges with receivers. I didn’t understand underplaying Juschek last night unless it was Shanahan’s plan to use calculated misdirection or something.

So, no, I don’t think they should cut Jimmy to give Mullens his job. They should probably go shopping and Jimmy, Mullens and CJ should be on the block for the right price. Jimmy will likely never be healthy here anyway. And I stick to the memory of him just not getting it done either in the end. Mullens had one very good drive yesterday. That’s what I saw a few weeks ago. It’s just not enough.

Sad way to end a season yesterday. They are just spoilers now, most likely.

BTW, did you notice the amount of slipping and injuries yesterday? It reminded me of that first set of games in NY. Both teams lost guys yesterday.

Re: Saleh
Detroit is a graveyard because the ownership doesn’t care about winning a championship. It’s a revenue stream for the Ford family and that’s the way it’ll stay until ownership changes. Any coach or player would be foolish to go there of their own free will.

Re: Mullens
I don’t care who the QB is as long as opposing teams are allowed to hit him in the helmet, below the waist, and after the ball is clearly out it’s going to be tough sledding.
Mullens is a serviceable back up and if even two of the three roughing penalties I saw were called the game would have been much different.

DC Guenther was let go about an hour after the game...

If "wet paper towel" is probably one of the nicer phrases that can be used to describe the stoutness of the Raiders defense under Guenther, then he really had to go. The writing was on the wall when they hired Marinelli, who seems to have found a niche as a D-coordinator killer. His defenses typically perform well for a few years, so maybe he'll end up being a good fit for interim and maybe permanent DC next year.

This is the best I’ve seen the Bills play since the late 80s early 90s.

I'm rooting for them to win their Division for the first time in 25 years.

:laughing

I almost felt bad for the Jets after the sucker punch the Giants served the Seachickens 2 weeks ago. I figured that Seattle would play their second NY Team in a week with a bloody vengeance and that team was already the worst in the NFL.

I feel like the conversation needs to begin about if the Jets are the worst team in the post merger era. Could these Jets beat the '08 Lions or '17 Browns? Are the '76 Bucs in the mix?

Yes, I remember them in the late 80-early 90s. I remember the sting of losing to Jim Kelley every year, especially since he grew up in E. Brady, Pa. He was a western Pa guy that beat us all the time.

Josh Allen is locked in. It is fun (with the exception of last night) to see all my in-laws get very excited about the bills again. My SIL works some of the sidelines for concussion protocol and my BIL and other in-laws have season tickets. In fact, we were supposed to fly in for the game last night, now I am glad we couldn't. LOL

I remember too. Wide Right, baby, wide right...

Belichik's evil empire is finally done... for now.

Not likely. They're just taking a year off.

This season also just shows how badly you need a decent to good QB.

Cam Newton sucks. Jarret Stidham sucks.

They're still top 10 in points allowed, but 26th in points scored.

Not many Tom Brady's out there... Tom Brady is barely "Tom Brady" at this point.

I mean, Cam Newton just isn't very good anymore. I reckon if they had a pretty passable starter guy like a Fitzpatrick or a Cousins, they would do alright.

Picking up the 31 year old cast off of a Team that went 5-11 last year isn't exactly a model plan for success, you know?

They have a year of cap hell to pay for kicking the can down and trying to win it all with Brady every year.

Small price to pay.
