yeah but if Jimmy was healthy we'd be fighting for the NFC West title and #1 seed. Teams just aren't built to roll with their backup QB when they have a clear #1 guy. Seattle would be fucked without Russ, same as AZ without the midget or Green Bay without A-A-Ron, etc.

Also, Chargers had zero film on Mariota. They had a game plan for Carr.

Yeah, but dude was a passable starter in TN with a QBR in the 90's like every year he was there. He is mediocre, but a team with strong running and burly Defense can win a lot of games with a guy like that.
 
Sure, he was decent for his first few seasons, but his mechanics are trash and he's been injured so much that he can't perform consistently.

Hell, the dude was the #3 QB behind Nathan Peterman this season more than once.
 
That was what a 100% healthy Mariota looks like: misses half his throws and can run very well. He's not going to get better.
 
ha...ya know I'm sort of giving Jones a bit of a pass until we see him with Saquon again. Losing your best player always has an effect on the team.

that's not to say I'd expect him to start completing 79% or anything, :laughing

Well, the total train wreck of an offense we saw against the Cards shows what DJ has when he can't run.

This whole thing about having a QB be injured sucks. Does this happen a lot to other teams? I don't think I like it when a QB can be injured.
