NFL 2020

weekly reminder that Mullens is not an NFL caliber QB

So, as much as I have been trying to slow the Mullens hateration if C.J. Beathard doesn't start for the Niners next week,I seriously have to accuse the Niners of tanking for draft picks.

I hereby disavow any previous approval for Nick Mullens and have donned a hair shirt and am self-flagellating. I was fooled by his good game against the Rams. He still makes the occasional good pass, and he does indeed have a quick release, quicker than Jimmy, but what good is it if he's going to turn it over all the time? That rushing defense wasn't as fierce as others and he still managed to eff it up. He has proved unworthy to even be a backup. Things go right just enough to make you think it's okay. Then, it's not.

CJ has an even slower reaction time and I don't care to see him get the shit pounded out of him like he did when Jimmy was out before. Just let Mullens finish it out unless the opposing defense is phoning it in. These guys need to be on permanent practice squads, sorry to say it.

I think Jimmy should be the backup and we need to get some college kid or lure away somebody, anybody that isn't a hardluck case. Jimmy only has three to five games in him before he gets hurt again. I'll take Trask from Florida. I watched some college ball this weekend. All of em were better than Mullens or CJ.

What a frickin disaster of a season. Aiyuk is the brightest spot though. Kid's a champ in the making. And I love Niner D. They never stopped trying, despite all the reasons they had.

Kinlaw is coming along nicely as well.

And I like his intensity. Maybe he'll piss on someone's car in the near future.

Wentz is looking for a team, but I wouldn't risk it. I would make a strong case for y'all to trade for Darnold once the Jets draft Trevor Lawrence. He is in the last year of his Rookie deal next year. Let Grap start next year, compete with Darnold. If Darnold doesn't have what it takes, he is easy to walk away from.

Seems like a reasoned strategy. No on Wentz. I like Foles better than Wentz but I guess he's sorta overcooked too.

Overall I'm super happy with the season the defense has turned in this year given the season ending injuries they endured. I hope Saleh is smart enough not to take the Lion's job. I get why he would. Money. Prestige. It's still a giant black hole of a position tho and the only exit is going back to being a D coordinator.

The offense just seamed to sputter and drag for most of the season as the result of the injuries. I appreciate the intensity from players like Deebo, Mostert, and Kittle. From my perspective Coach Kyle expects them to play lights out every snap, and they've bought into it completely. Sometimes getting down on the turf is the better part of valor. I suspect the intensity they bring is contributing to their injuries.

The Jets aren't getting Lawrence, they currently sit at #2 behind Jax.

Nobody is gonna take Wentz. He makes more than Jimmy LOL.

Darnold is worse than Jimmy. IDK why people are acting like he's not good. He had an ACL tear and a high ankle sprain that he came back from WAAAY too soon and made it worse.

Unless they lose out and end up picking, like, top 5 and able to grab Wilson from BYU they are going to keep Jimmy and restructure his deal. The cap is going down some next year, they're not going to cut/trade Jimmy to just go spend the same money on someone else.

I'd rather draft someone like Mond or Ehlinger and hope they pan out to transitioning to the NFL.

Agreed about keeping JG10. He's fragile but he's the best we have and if the refs would just pull the laundry out like they do for other QB he may last a whole season.

I dunno, I just recall too many muffed passes when it really counted. And the injuries. And he's very expensive. Maybe if he takes a paycut.

Philly is in such a nightmarish Salary Cap hell next year.

:wtf

:rip

Man, I can still see him pulling into the player's lot at the Stick in his beat up old orange Bug back in '96 or '97?
Wow. :(

Damn, kind of a young guy to check out like that.

His career probably took 25 years off his life.

Always liked watching him when I was a kid. All time great but seemed like a genuinely good dude.

Yeah, 4 months older than me.... :later

Yeah, I am mean after 55, death from natural causes is just kind of a given, but still, going in your 50's is a pretty aggressive early adopter.

Just because this guy was an adult in the 80's, I blame cocaine.

Speaking of dying; wtf happened to the Steelers in the first half? :wtf

I guess players on other teams are getting tired of Juju's logo dances? :dunno
