NFL 2021

Shit's documented. It's not hearsay.

And you get off MY LAWN!

No one said it was hearsay?

I'm just saying that in olden times, go back to ancient days of the early 90's, clowning everyone based on their ethnicity and sexual preferences was an important part of male bonding.

Shit, it was even a standard practice on BARF back when I started. I can remember a particular emoji of a TV being stolen people would post a lot...

I'm not saying dude was right or wrong, but I highly doubt he is a racist or holds much ethnic prejudice as a weapon.

Just a Boomer doing Boomer stuff, which isn't that shocking, is it? :dunno

I mean, most of this shit just sounds like typical, "Locker Room Banter" from a time before the Twitterati became the PC Gestapo.

Like I said about his coaching, he is just kind of a relic from a different era and he wasn't even doing this shit recently, it was like a decade ago.

I feel like some of y'all need to go back and watch Gran Torino again.

:dunno

2011 was not a different era. This shit wasn't OK 10 years ago. Beyond that, it continued and was documented through 2018 dude.

Not to mention Bruce Allen and Dan Snyder and the whole Washington human trafficking / sex trafficking shit that started this.

Gruden aside, though, it's kind of sad that Snyder and Allen are still being protected. Hell, Allen used his fucking official team email to send Gruden the topless photos of the cheerleaders.

I have yet to see the actual text of the emails, just characterizations by the press. Is it possible that the lack of actual text mean that the labels put to what he said in the email has a greater shock value than the actual emails?

I don't understand why they can't just post what he said.

I would say let him without sin cast the first stone but apparently there are a lot of sinless people out there making sure the rest of us toe the line.

Because they want to protect the other people in the emails.

I think this is pretty explicit of a description. I don't need to see screenshots because saying this stuff falsely would get a never-ending libel lawsuit.

'fat and clueless anti-football pussy'
'nervous clueless pussy'
Don't sound homophobic, racist or misogynist
'Pressuring <> to hire queers' is over the line.

I still think that their characterizations sound more extreme than the emails might be, otherwise they would have posted the actual text for greater shock value.

Well, how I can put this delicately.

There are still a lot of old fuckers I know who still communicate this way. They are pretty much all rough blue collar types who do not have much internet access nor a desire for any. The ones I am comfortable associating with in passing all seem to bear no real prejudice and have POC on their staff, in their family, without bearing any real grudges that I can see based on some kind of ethnic prejudice etc.

I just ain't mad about them, as opposed to the last time I saw a guy walk into a bar with a, "Support your Local White Boy" T-Shirt on with SS Lightning Bolts on it and a buddy had to drag me outside the bar to stop me from getting myself in a situation unbecoming of a man my age.

Dude is old and doing boomer shit. Time to put him out to pasture, no reason to be mad. :dunno

I don't even know why they canned Jack Del Rio, they played their best season in the last 35 years under that guy. Should have kept him in there.

I agree. JDR firing was weird. But Mark Davis had a hard-on for Gruden and offered him that stupid contract. Who in their right mind wouldn't turn that down?

Long term, this will be good for the Raiders. I mean, they are on year 19 of a 3-year plan.

Yeah, I have to assume Gruden just threw a, "Fuck You they'll never buy it," term out there and Davis somehow bit.

I agree it will be better for them. The guy needed to retire despite whatever other personality problems he has.

They still have a lot of good staff an a brand spanking new state of the art facility, so their opportunity for, "What's Next," is pretty excellent.

I am shocked that he really is kind of evil Chucky after all. Very old-fashioned white American bigot. I was amazed that he typed out his gay-inference bullshit about Goodell. Wow. No wonder he's gone.

+1 and I would add that if the Raiders have anything, they have always represented diversity and inclusion. This wouldn't fly 10 years ago in Raiderland, or 50 years ago. I'm shocked too. I think Mark Davis is too. Maybe even feeling heartbroken.

I hear him and Carr are nextdoor neighbors in Henderson. that would make an awkward walk to the mailbox haha.

My cousin Greyson literally played for the Raiders from 2008-2010. You are just not right about the culture. :dunno

Misogyny and Homophobia were just a baseline standard in the locker room in that era and Michael Sam some number of years later came into the league and stated that it was still a problem in NFL locker rooms.

I'm largely left with he impression that this has only been changing over the last 5-6 years.

So much this.

Gruden is just a swinging dick willing to use any vulgarity to the advantage of proving his alpha cred. He’s a numb nutz.

The more interesting consideration is why hasn’t an investigation into the WFT resulted in Snyder losing the team yet?

I think that Davis should be removed for getting such crappy hair cuts. I mean, it really offensive to me to be exposed to the image of those horrible haircuts whenever his picture gets posted in the news. :x

because billionaires are the REAL protected class.

So totally this. Saw an article late yesterday that stated this is the real reason Gruden got outed, he was the sacrificial lamb so that they could protect all of the wealthy people in the email treasure trove.

LOL, The NFL forcing a team owner to sell his team requires the other Team Owners to vote against him with a 3/4 Majority. Good luck on that ever happening to any team.

:laughing
