NFL 2021

The NFLPA has called for the NFL to release ALL the e-mails; Davis says "ask the NFL, they have all the answers...."

This isn't a Raiders issue. Never was.

I work with a Gruden sympathizer. "Rubber lips" means liar, not exaggerated features, they say. He's out because he was losing, they say, without support from Prince Valiant, they say. This is all about WFT, they say and yet you're only hearing about Gruden's emails amidst thousands, perhaps, that have been viewed from all over.

I would imagine that, during the period of considering dropping Redskins, there were some interesting and damaging correspondence....

He aint that bad guy, they say. I heard that one of the MNF commentators stood up for him at least somewhat. I don't think it was Booger but somebody else...

It's weird because, as we already chewed on earlier, it's pretty dissonant to imagine him serving these many years and harboring the hate or whatever.

If Gruden has something to say or exonerate himself, I'd like to hear it.

I think Eldritch is speaking reality about a bunch of macho guys in a room, saying shit and ragging on people and I do think there is a court of higher authority outrage that might be tempered at least a bit. As I said before, I find the homophobia stuff to be way more plausible as well as contempt for Goodell, concussion protocol, defanging the defense for player safety, etc etc.

I bet Saints fan are laughing their asses off PRIVATELY , considering their hatred of Goodell.

My cousin Greyson literally played for the Raiders from 2008-2010. You are just not right about the culture. :dunno

Misogyny and Homophobia were just a baseline standard in the locker room in that era and Michael Sam some number of years later came into the league and stated that it was still a problem in NFL locker rooms.

I'm largely left with he impression that this has only been changing over the last 5-6 years.

please reread my post. The Raiders represent diversity and inclusion. That is proven by their history of hires, executive team, etc. I said nothing about locker room culture, of which I would have no reason but to believe you. :thumbup

Keyshawn Johnson said Gruden spoke out of both sides of his mouth. Telling players they were cool and then ragging them as soon as they were out of earshot.

Gruden just feels like that kind of dude so he pretty much made his bed. I’m still waiting for the rest of the story about the WFT investigation and what it uncovered about that team, it’s owner, and FO.

Gruden very well may be a double-talking POS. But I'd never trust what Keyshawn would say about him. How that guy got a gig as a football analyst is beyond me, especially after all the shit the other analysts talked about him while he played. The epitome of the self-centered WR. He was so cancerous to the Bucs that he was benched for the season...by Gruden, who was by all accounts a player's coach. It doesn't get more face-to-face than that.

This certainly feels like Gruden's hubris caught up to him. But we know his true colors now, so, bye felicia.

It is interesting about this supposed to be about the WFT. This should be the tip of the iceberg afa what has been found about Snyder, Allen...maybe Kyle? maybe Shanny sr.? Hopefully we get the full story.

I would bet a million hobo dollars that if they release all the emails there would be a ton more people who would get fired/resign/canceled because they either joined the conversation or didn't report him when it happened. I think the NFL opened Pandora's box when they sacrificed Gruden and if they don't release all the emails then prepare for some JFK level conspiracy shit to happen online.

It's not cancel culture. It's consequence culture.
Cancel Culture is a massively misused term, appropriated and repackaged to malign others in a hiding in plain sight manner. It should just go away like all of the other repackaged terms.

So, how do the Raiders respond to finish the season after all of this, 7-10? 8-9?

I'm not a Raiders fan too much, but I'm glad Mayock finally/hopefully has control of personnel. I've always wanted to see what he could do since his days on the NFL network. I thought he was one of the better draft prognosticators and had good eye for talent.

2 out of those 3 wins were by the skin of their teeth. Honestly, 3-13 not out of the realm of possibility. :laughing

And I'm a Raider fan.:thumbup

Okay, okay, 8-8 would be stellar considering what's going on to just equal last year.

Their last winning season was 2016 under Del Rio. Previous to that was 2002 because Callahan inherited that team. Like Gruden inherited The Bucs defense and was lucky to play the Raiders in that SB. If it were the Titans in the SB instead of the Raiders, I think the Bucs would have still won, but not by that margin or ease.

4 winning seasons since 2000. A Commitment to Excellence should no longer be the Raiders mantra.

I honestly believe the fault lies up top with the ownership. For as much as Al did for the league, he got in his own way. Mark is doomed to repeat it.

At least we're not the Browns, Jags or the Lions (their ownerships basically gives zero fucks).

Well, and I'm going out on a limb here, they'll either be over .500, or under .500, or possibly .500 if they tie.... :dunno

Regardless, they will probably have enough wins to finish 2nd in the NFC Least. :thumbup

Well, there are no more .500 Seasons (8-8-1 maybe?), but we shall see. I am curious if they will be improved from last year or worse off with the Coach Drama, which I suspect will set them for a loop, but a team can certainly rally in the face of adversity.

Pretty hard to do coming from the AFC. :laughing

No Dude, the Cowgirls unfortunately look like a top team right now and after that the LEast drops off a cliff. Philly is straight Trash, Blue is a pile of top tier corpses piled up in a triage ward and the Redskins were supposed to be a playoff contender with a top tier defense from last year that somehow decided not to show up this year. 7 wins will probably be enough for the 2nd team in our Division.

this may be crazy, but what if....Gruden wasn't the greatest of coaches??? I know, right?

It is possible Carr fills the o-coordinator void and asserts himself, with Greg Olsen following his lead. I get the feeling the keys are going to be handed to Carr (pun intended).

I just listened to Gus Bradley's press confo, and, I think it's great that he didn't get promoted. He is the obvious choice, but he's got a big job to do already. I think Gruden's absence will make his voice carry more too.

Bisaccia will be there to cheerlead. That may not be the worst thing.

11-6

I like your 11-6, it would be nice if they worked out that way. It would be good if giving Gruden the boot actually accelerated the team. That Guy was an unfortunate tie to the past and I really want to see the Raiders succeed now to prove that the only thing they needed to do to be successful after 25 years of being one of the worst teams in football is to abandon Oakland and have nothing to do with East Bay life.

It really looks like the Bills might be the team to beat in the AFC right now though.

As they are currently playing, Bills and Cards could be a pretty good Superbowl. I don't have much of a dog in that fight, but I would root for the Cards.

Those poor bastards are the oldest team in pro ball and they have not won a Championship since like WWII. :laughing
