NFL 2021

Romo is a great announcer, I think the ppl who dislike him are cowboy haters.

Ever since he started calling games, I've learned interesting quirks that I'm sure nobody will ever know about unless you played professional football, almost each game he calls too.

I was rooting for the Cards last night and they got worked over like borrowed mules. So horribly lopsided. I guess I will be forced to root for the Bucs this weekend to wipe that smug grin off McChunky soups face.

Raiders fired Mayock.

Just because his two draft picks turned out to be criminals? That was take in the reporting I saw about it.

I mean, that's kinda thin but I guess Davis is cleaning house and getting the last of the Gruden stink outta the building.

I don't know what fixes the Raiders. Pretty good season despite distractions, I thought.

Really curious to see if they stick with Bisaccia. Probably not supposed to, but I dunno, he seemed to handle everything pretty well.

Team loyalty. Nothing wrong with it.

As a track coach, all of my former athletes are still my 'kids' and always will be.

I'd have less respect for former players who badmouth their former teams.

It's fine if they aren't national f@cking announcers.

I just think the narrative for Tony was like watching a 50tvs western and hoping the cowboys win against the Indians, or making sure the Japs get defeated in a war movie. He described the play but it was obvious how "it was supposed to go." By the end of it, a part of me feels like the Niners spoiled everything for Tony and made Daddy Jerra mad in their big fancy stadium. I do loathe the way that the Cowboys get "game of the week' every fucking time they play on a Sunday and I just don't understand it other than some notion of the pecking order of the owner's collusion. I do gag on "America's Team" so yes, i may be prejudiced in this situation.

I'll say it again: I like his announcing, I learn shit, but just not when his former team is involved. Aikman is kind of a stiff and he and Joe Buck equals two stiffs but I think he would have called a better game in this situation. Tony's greatest talent is how he can predict the next play, which he often does. Its pretty impressive and justifies getting former players onboard. It wasn't terrible, more like annoying.

Correct on both counts. I will go to my grave saying, FUCK DALLAS and Tony's football knowledge is enjoyable when he ISN'T cheerleading for his old team. I don't even fault him for it. He's human, it makes sense he's biased. It should just be policy that ex players don't call games for their old teams nationally. It's obnoxious no matter what.

2021
1 Alex Leatherwood OL

2020
1 Henry Ruggs III WR
1 Damon Arnette CB
(the rest of this draft wasnt so hot either)
3 Lynn Bowden Jr. RB
3 Bryan Edwards WR
3 Tanner Muse LB
4 John Simpson G
4 Amik Robertson CB

2019
1 Clelin Ferrell DE
1 Josh Jacobs RB
1 Johnathan Abram S
2 Trayvon Mullen CB

However, Gruden has his finger prints on everything 3rd round and up. Most of that is not Mayock. Mayock did get Renfrow, Crosby, Hobbs in later rounds though.

Yeah, that's better info for sure. I am not sure how many other NFL teams don't have a similar list of the non-standouts, though.

If you are a real Raider watcher, which I am not, has Mayock come close to Trent Baalke? It didn't seem like it. He seemed more overshadowed by Gruden for much of it...

I sure think Renfrow and Crosby are awesome, from what I have watched. Not sure who was responsible for signing Waller but Carr to Waller has been a blast to see.

I just can't figure out the takeaway from firing Mayock, whether its the inevitable heads must fly for them daring to lose or aforementioned theory of excorsising Gruden era.

I don't see Davis hiring Harbaugh. Mark has some insecurity issues and seems to want people around who like him and will treat him well. Harbaugh will not be that type of guy.

Mayock was mostly trash, although it's hard to know who really settled on their first and second round picks. Carr desperately needed a better and healthier o-line and wr corps. He got neither. Mayock did find some diamonds in the later rounds though. All in all he was very hit and miss, even with the free agents. AB being the most glaring mistake. I'm sure he'll land on his feet, at least by going back to the NFL network.

Bisaccia was a real nice surprise for the team. He maybe helped keep the team more calm than his predecessor, which could have made a difference. Other than that I didn't really see what he was doing to contribute as an HC.

I think I would prefer a whole new offensive scheme. But most importantly is that they keep their good players and keep building on their talent. There will be a few free agent top notch WRs and o-tackles available. Not extending Carr IMO would be a mistake. He's not a problem that needs fixing.

Can I interest you in a mildly used Saquon The Savior?

but lieutenant Eldrich...he aint got no legs!

Yes, I know that.

:laughing

About to be a pending free agent though.

I think he can be a good 1st & 2nd Down back for a team already set up to run like the Browns or Seachickens, we just don't have the infrastructure to support dude and keep him from getting injured.

The firing of Mayock was most likely a sign that they are looking to get a new HC. It's easier to attract a new HC when they will have a say in the GM hiring.

This, when doing it this way the HC gets GM under his thumb instead of other way around

Niners vs Packers - what are the takes?

Niners defense is better than earlier in the season and offense is also better.

I'm hoping the rush can get to Rogers and bother the packers passing game.

Niners NEED to run the ball to eat clock and avoid any Jimmy G issues. That guy scares me with his horrendous arm and missing wide open targets.

Niners appear to have a lot of offensive weapons now: Deebo, Mitchell, Juice, Jennings, Ayuik, Kittle. If the run game is doing well I think Kittle and Ayuik will have a big game.

the key may be to not get called for DPI. That was a killer last game for the 9ers. The playoffs seem to give a little more leeway for those types of infractions, so that should help. Probably best not to grab onto Adams so much this time.
