Official 2018/2019 Sharks Thread!

Wow, what a game. And the conspiracy continues.

Braun has been taking a beating. Not the first head shot he's received this playoffs. I hope DOPS takes a look, but I doubt any action will be taken.

From the slo-mo, it looks like it does touch Boumeester; however, from the rule, even with contact, that itself does not negate the hand pass.

Rule 79 - Hand Pass

79.1 Hand Pass - A player shall be permitted to stop or “bat” a puck in the air with his open hand, or push it along the ice with his hand, and the play shall not be stopped unless, in the opinion of the on-ice officials, he has directed the puck to a teammate, or has allowed his team to gain an advantage, and subsequently possession and control of the puck is obtained by a player of the offending team, either directly or deflected off any player or official.

Honestly, this is the after effect of what happens when you remove 2 of the most experienced refs after round 1. Either way, I'll take the W

You have to remember that out of bounds penalty that should have been called and ended up with that particular blues player scoring a goal a minute or 2 later which gave the blues momentum to get the tie breaking goal and the go ahead. If they called that penalty (which they did against the sharks last game) they may have gone up 4-1 on the power play :dunno so again it all comes around

"deflected off any player" that would negate a stoppage since it deflected off an opponent.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but I interpreted it as:

Hand pass is allowed unless 1) the pass results in a team advantage, and 2) subsequent possession and control is obtained by the offending team, directly or deflected.

The bouncing off Boumeester is a deflection off any player and the subsequent possession and control went to Nyquist.

Ohh, you're right! That part is talking about deflecting off the offending team. Sharks in this case. Makes no mention about deflections off the non-offending team.

ok, you're right ktsai. No matter what way I try to look at it...just a bad non-call at the worst time.

draftkings or one of them apparently voided bets on the game due to the outcome.

That's some bullshit. Sleazy sites are gonna sleaze. Rules are rules and a win is a win. Honoring a bet should not matter whether you agree with the results or not.

Such bullshit. It was clearly intentional. Jumbo got a game for less.

Agreed. The league has been talking about head shots for how long now? But none of this is a surprise to anyone. Remember the NHL Wheel of Justice? It doesn't seem like a blindfold and dartboard would be too far off.

Christ, all the whining over one call, when there are probably half a dozen missed calls every game. And how about someone on the telecast show an angle that allows us to see if it hit Boumeester's shinpad, because it sure looked like it glanced off it.

The Blues have been knocking Karlsson in the head all series and not getting called for it. Stop whining and play hockey. Just like in the Vegas series, if the Blues don't give up the late goal, the non-call in OT is a non-issue.

Loved Karllson's 'Longest Yard' reference in the post game interview.

Me too !!!! I really like him. I hope we can keep him.

F*ck if we get to the Bruins hopefully their down time and our momentum will keep us in it. They have those 2 monsters on their team. 4-0 already. Sheesh

It's hard not to think about a Sharks-Bruins finals and all the implications. Jumbo facing the team that traded him. Chara and Kane. etc.

but that's a long ways away. I have a feeling the Bluenotes will amp up the physicality and either dominate this game or have a parade to the penalty box. I'm thinking the former. Which means the defense will have to look a whole lot better, and Jones will need to be Jesus Jones.

I believe in Jesus Jones! I think the Blues are going to come out banging, but the Sharks are more than capable to weather the storm and steal another W.

I'm curious if Sorensen will play tonight. I thought Melker played great on the 3rd line. Hell, I'm surprised by Haley's performance too.

Haley has played really well lately. I've been impressed. I had written him off long ago. Glad i was wrong :)
