Official BARF BEER Crew

Went to Death Valley last weekend on the mule. Heard that Panamint Springs had a place with over 100 different bottled beers. Got there and it was closer to 200 plus another 11 on tap. We were close enough to Furnace creek to have a libation. We'd already ridden 450 miles.

Let me back up a bit. We'd passed Indian Wells Brewing Company on 395... and I was devastated that we'd passed it and kept going. Ended up at a Shell with a Subway and saw they had some Mohave Red, so I picked up a sixer and ice.

We roll in to Panamint, I peruse the 200 beers and settle on an Indian Wells Death Valley Pale Ale. OUTFUCKINSTANDING! :thumbup

Got to camp and tried the Red. Not so much. A sharp after taste that just didn't do it fore me.

Stop at Panamint Springs Resort. Enjoy the beer. :thumbup

Bump.

I am bumping this thread for a simple reason. Do get out to the BevMo and pick up a six-pack or more of the Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen. I got some on Saturday and I can't put into words how good it is. I have concluded that all the love in Germany, an admittedly stiff and restrained culture, goes into their beer and their happy autumn holiday.

I always support my locals but I can't believe how delish this batch is.

Paulaner makes some good beer. I used to drink it all the time but now I have so many local beers, I just stick with that.

So do I. I always look for local equivalents to see how they do. But, having visited Germany and Prague this summer, I am open-minded about trying new to me things. I was at Bev Mo trying to find a local version of either a Bergbock or a Doppel Bock. I had the bergbock made by Andescher while in Berlin, it was spectacular. Sierra Nevada makes a version of it but they were out.

I saw the Marzen, knew it was fresh and bigawd, I had to post. I just drank another one.

Just found this thread, and I have a lot of connections for certain breweries, so I'll just post some heads up for events in the area I guess.

First up is New Belgium Tap Takeover at Harrys Hofbrau this Thursday, which I will be attending. They will have the salted chocolate caramel brownie brown ale on tap which was just released 2 weeks ago.

This Saturday at Jack's Bar & Lounge is Firkin Fest! I won't be there, but I believe they will be having free tastings of a bunch of firkin kegs there, which I imagine will be in their back patio area.

:thumbup thanks for the heads up.

so...connections, you say? like...connections on kegs, perhaps?

I work for a distributor, so I can't do any out the door stuff, but I can recommend places to get anything we carry. I don't want to say too much out in the wild, but feel free to pm me :thumbup :staRang

Harry Hofbrau in San Leandro is going to have a tap take over this Thursday also. I think it's Pelican Brewery. They have a bunch of award winning beers.

Yeah, but where? Bevmo only allowed me one 4 pack last time. :Port

Everyone is gonna limit you. They are doing bombers only now i think so you may only get your hands on 1 at a time now.

Every where I went it was the same deal. I just came back the next day and buy some more or even bring a friend with me and have him buy a pack for me.

Dropped the ball, tonight at Britannia Arms on Almaden across the street from Bass Pro Shop was a little tap takeover from Drakes. Hung out with my Drakes rep until 9 or so. They should still have Jolly Roger and barrel aged Drakonic on tap still!

Then tomorrow is the bacon and beer festival at the SJ Giants stadium, which I think is sold out, but I might be there.

Also the firkin fest will be at Jacks Bar & Lounge tomorrow from 1pm - 4pm. If you haven't already got tickets for that, it's $30 at the door, but unlimited pours from the firkins. Firkin sweet!
