pge liable for camp fire?

Nobody will insure them. They won't have a choice.

You do know that Rothschild Global is a major shareholder of PGE and is the insurer of PGE. Rothschild is also on the Board of Directors.

No conspiracy - just a simple conflict of interest plus global financial backing. Should be interesting to see how the tentacles get cut.

California announced yesterday that the CPUC is investigating PG&E and looking into possible break up/divestment.

I wonder how many of his family members he told before that announcement, somebody with that information could have made a huge killing on the stock market. I know that CPUC is corrupt as hell, that is why I bring it up.

Hard to say exactly who, but when a stock bounces like that, there are assuredly people who made fuck loads of money on it.

They have made it abundantly clear that they give no fucks that they slaughtered dozens upon dozens of people.

I think every PG&E exec should have to spend a week picking thru ashes to recover bone fragments and skulls.

Hundreds. This thing looks like it's gonna be 500-600 killed in the Camp fire.

Put the CPUC comish's in there too.

Picker added that as a result of a new law signed by California governor Jerry Brown last year, the CPUC is now required to consider a utility's finances when determining the maximum amount it can pay without harming customers when evaluating damages caused by wildfires.
As part of the bill that Brown signed a bill, PG&E will now be able to issue bonds backed by surcharges from its customers. Those bonds will help pay for damages tied to deadly California wildfires in October 2017 caused by faulty PG&E equipment.

All the good things Brown did, undone by this one bill. What a total Fuckshop.

Fine by me. As far as I'm concerned, The State Legislature can take a field trip for a week too.

Sadly, the number of missing has gone up substantially in the last couple days.

Agree on the CPUC execs being included, they are as corrupt as the PG&E Execs, which makes them worse.

I heard on NPR that this bill doesn't take effect until 2019, so it doesn't affect this fire. But it doesn't matter, they'll let them off the hook.

And while I agree that Brown has done a lot of good things for CA, I can't say this is the only asshole move. His "water fix" project and the HSR come to mind as bullshit projects that do not help the average californian.

Utility asked last month to hike bills over California fires
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — A utility facing severe financial pressure amid speculation its equipment may have sparked a deadly Northern California wildfire asked U.S. energy regulators last month for permission to raise its customers' monthly bills to harden its system against wildfires and deliver a sizable increase in profits to shareholders.
The sleaze never stops.
