Porsche Panamera S ?

Similar to Cars and Coffee - Cars and Croissants at Santana Row on the 4th Saturday morning of every month. There's one this Saturday from 9-12.

Usually lots of exotics, some vintage, some race vehicles etc.

So you only hang out with owners at the track, and think that's what everyone does with them.

No, I actually follow a number of the forums as well and there are large numbers of people driving these cars hard, all over the world, both street and track. The C&C-only set is a distinct minority. Social media and our celebrity mad culture only makes it seem like they're the norm.

And again my point was simply that the buyer of a high end late model sports car has distinctly different motivations than the guy buying a rare million dollar Vette that they're going to stick in a garage and trailer around to shows.

You really think that the Rodeo Drive set is the minority? If that were true, then Ferrari would still be selling cars with a proper manual.

Because it would be, you know, higher performing? :wtf

The guys chasing lap times aren't jonesing for manual transmissions. They're looking for the best DCTs/SMGs they can get.

Personal observations:

It is rare for a Porsche driver to talk to you if you are as fast, or faster than they are.
Porsche Drivers won't talk to you if you are as fast, or faster than they are and you drive a Corvette. A couple of us sparred all day with a fast group of 3-5 GT3 drivers and each had outstanding video of each session. In-between sessions they were all sitting in a circle talking to each other. I walked up and said "Hi guys, I was driving the silver Vette." They looked up, looked back, and then ignored me.

Ferrari drivers are cut from two groups:
1) They are fast, don't talk much or socialize at the track.
or
2) They complain that you passed them too closely even when you are 20ft+ away.

Lamborghini drivers are maniacs:
2-3 cars abreast entering T1 at Thunderhill.
Very aggressive control inputs, not smooth at all.
Saw car-to-car contact at the two Lambo trackdays I drove.
Was told by cornerworkers that every Lambo day has at least one car going home on a trailer due to a crash or a John Deere moment.

So basically not much difference from a motorcycle trackday :laughing

Replace Lamborghini with Ducati

If I went out and got a new Z06, I'd probably want the manual. Even though I completely know that the slush box is actually quicker. Because while I know that there's quite a bit of dick measuring that's associated with lap times, my primary focus of having a car like that is to have fun...not to see if I'm king of the weekend warriors at the track.

And to be honest, I might never even track it anyways. Never tracked (beyond the 1/4 mile at least) the last Z06. Sure I'd drive it hard here and there on the road. But I was not being a show off with the thing. So I'm not the Rodeo Drive flashy car owner. Nor am I the every millisecond counts chasing lap times owner. I'm the owner that the majority of owners of cars like that are...somewhere in the middle. Every single one of my NSX clients are the same way.

I've been lurking lambo power and Ferrari chat for years, again you're just surrounding yourself with skewed samples.

My favorite post of the week! So much laughs!

Also "Cars & Coffee" first sunday of every month, at the Blackhawk museum (which in itself is worth a visit)

http://www.blackhawkmuseum.org/

There's also tons of old muscle cars in Danville, given that it's full of Boomers (much more so than Walnut Creek, which is younger)

Cars and coffee in sf isn't as nice as it used to be.
Check out the cars and coffee at canepa design.

I was referring to the cars and coffee they hold in SF. It's not worth the hassle and traffic.
