Porsche Panamera S ?

-0. Stay as far from the 6.2L AMG motor as you can get. Broken head bolts and cam gear problems are inherent to it. Dudes are losing entire motors due to the head bolts breaking and the things flooding the cylinders with coolant..bent rods, etc. Ugh. My Roomate's in for $9,700 of fixes on his 25K mile CLK63 Black Series. Fun times.

+1 to the -0. Friend had an amg boat with a check engine light. New head from germany, new lifters, merrick fuck ton of cash in labor, way out of warranty... still won't pass smog last I heard

Told you all it was a long story!

Some dealers in the BFE parts of the country are getting more like $20-30k over. But fuck that. Because Silicon Valley, 30+ deep wait list, and not every Acura dealer around here chose to sell/service the car. Some of the customers on our list $50k is a dealbreaker, but to some of them it's not even a day's income. This car we're getting will sell easily. It's not a preferred spec, but it's not the weird blue-green "Nord Grey" color (which has a 1% take rate so far) either.

So nard grey is going to be the most valuable in the long run?

Poor guy. It's like they learned nothing from their over engineering in WWII...

Meh...New cars are overrated my NEWEST vehicle is almost 20 years old.

Hell yes.

Perfect world would be a stable of old pre-smog cars. I think I would need 3. A truck, a wagon, and a sporty thing.

In 20 years? Yup. Right now? Apparently no love for this...

Rob, I really like those new GT350's. Just can't bring myself to have a REAL nice sports car as a daily driver (lexus GS350 is too nice even I'm thinking). Burn through brakes and stuff. Should have gotten a leaf or something. Then have something nice in the garage. Problem is, bought a temp house to make a rental prop and the garage is pretty tight with the new Tahoe in it. Have too much shit!

Stan, would this be a garage queen or a daily driver?

Group buy? If so, I'm in for like 1% equity. I'll take a 25% gain.

Wait, do we have to pay cap gains on it? :p

daily driver for sure. There's a 996TTS cab at Carlson porsche for super cheap ($50K) But I have to haul the toddler, and may have another baby down the road. I must be patient and wait!

Unless you absolutely HAVE to have a cab, I can't recommend one in a turbo. Its not as bad as they used to be but when you remove the top you lose a lot of torsional rigidity. The HP of the turbo becomes too much for the chassis to handle.

That being said they have gotten better but I still don't like the combo.

Why the hell is the GT3 RS so marked up? 260k?!? I really really want a GT3, but that's insane. My dreams of a 993TT have died :(

I've read mixed reviews about the new nsx and how it feels. No doubt it performs great but doesn't have that exciting feel from what I've read. It has the same problem the gtr does in that regard.
If I'm dropping money for a nice sports car/luxury sports car I want it to thrill me maybe some times scare me. I do get the cost of ownership and daily driving. Replacing pads and rotors is expensive not to mention 400+ per tire when it comes time to replace them. Who ever said it's a good idea to put aside money had it right. CPO is also a great way to go. I got my last car CPO and so far the only thing I've had to get repaired was one leaking magnetic shock and a leaking motor mount.

Not to mention, no one seems to want the Turb Cab used. You can get them cheap, but they're also in lowish demand on resale.

Nope, no cabs for me and that's why I haven't been down there. I do however want an 05 TT S.

I don't know much about the new ones, yet. $260K? I thought they were around $180K which is still pretty high but standard for Porsche. "let's take stuff off and charge the customer more" I would think the GT3 used market would be pretty attractive. Most guys buy them to pose in but they're really trackday cars. Not much fun on the street. Most of 'em never see the track or maybe just once and then get driven to cars 'n coffee. I would think one of those guys would be willing to sell for a fair price after he gets tired of bashing his kidneys too many times.

I might know a guy who can at least get you a ride in a 993TT :wink

Probably for the reasons I quoted. For a long time Porsche wouldn't sell the turbo in a cabrio but bowed to pressure from their more affluent clients (rich pricks who can't drive a car worth a shit anyways) The secondary market is where the enthusiasts are and they want a coupe for the rigidity.

I gotta stop thinking about cars and go ride the bike or something. :)

So I did my first street riding in a long time after Bill and I rode at Thill Sunday. I have to say, the 15+ R1 sounds so wicked cool with a slip on that I felt like I was in an F1 car. So yeah...time to ride Stan!
