Porsche Panamera S ?

Never said either of those. But I can do simple math. I know generally how many of these supercars have been sold and its pretty easy to estimate even a floor number of cars hitting the track. And that simple math would indicate that the idea that these cars are all being bought to stare at in the garage is nonsense. A whole lot of them are being driven very hard on the street and the track. Most of the people buying these cars have money to burn and the cost of actually driving them is pocket change to them. And as you go just slightly downstream into the $150-250k cars, that just goes up even more.

If you want to see the garage queens that just get traded around by the same group of people, watch Mecum Auctions or the goobers on Chasing Classic Cars.

The new supercars, by contrast, are very often being thrashed the way there were intended to be driven. There are always some going to folks like Mayweather or the Cuntashians, but for every one of those, there are multiple going to people who actually drive them.

You have zero data to back up your claims.

I would think a pretty good sample size of supercars and how they are used would be to poke your head in the shop of Palo Alto McLaren or Silicon Valley Ferrari/Maserati a few times and see just how many vehicles in the shop see track duty and how many are just occasional backroad burner/C&C cruisers.

Anyone want to try it out?

I thought supercars were only made for going up and down Sheikh Zayed Road?

This thread makes me go to CL and start browsing ads for Porsches I have no business buying.

Buy a used Panamera. Literally, no one wants that car used for some reason.

Nah - you have plenty of business buying one. Think of how cool you'd look, and how much fun you'd have driving it :cool

I'm currently browsing Caymans - and I'm sure that I can justify one somehow.

Didn't read the whole thread but IRT the OP post, my experience with CPO Porsche has been extremely positive.

Bought a CPO Boxster and after a while had some gear shift issues. Being the lagger than I am, took it to the local Porsche dealer to check out close to the last day of the warranty period. They kept it for a few day .. had 2 mechanics check it out and pretty much on the last day of warranty the head tech confirmed that I had some synchro issues. Got a brand new transmission and clutch installed at no cost to me under CPO warranty. About $8-10k worth of repair.

The 8-10k repair figures, are what cure me from wanting a Porsche.

I'm actually shocked that a transmission and a clutch was only $8-10k.

The $8-10k was just for a lowly Boxster .. baby Porsche for baby wallet size. :)
