R6 vs 600rr

Wow so many honda fanboys. Hondas may have better ergos and midrange but the R6 wins in the looks department hands down. (Btw, the R6 looks nothing like the R1). My buddy has an 07 RR and thinks its the hottest thing but he's ultra conservative. The RR is pretty plain jane-ish if you ask me.

Speaking of chicks, all the ones I see around here are on the back of gixxers :(

Some R6's for your consideration:

Man, this thread turned in to way more than I was hoping for lol. I'm not going to quote every one I respond to, but let's see how well this goes since I just rolled out of bed.

I do plan to hit the track, just more of a "day school and track days" type of way, and not actually racing anyone.

Yes, I'm thinking about what I want since, unlike cars you can't generally just go test ride any old bike you want, so aside from sitting on it on the show room floor, looks and opinions are all I have to make my decision on (and everyone knows what they say about opinions).

Friend of mine has a Speed Triple, no offense to brit fans here, but I'm not getting a Triumph or a Daytona :twofinger

If I wanted to look like everyone else, I'd get a GSX-R600 (realistically, I'd get a GSX-R750... just like everyone else) :green

I bought the Buell that I'm on now, because I liked the ergos on it after sitting on it at the shop, and I liked it better than all the Japanese bikes I sat on. I bought the 12R instead of the 9R because I liked the aesthetics. This bike is in no way boring yet, but I just want to add something different to my garage.

If at the end of the day there's no real difference between them (both are solid bikes, one is for the track, the other is for the street, etc, etc), then it just comes back to which one I like the looks of more.

I really do want the input, and I'm not just trolling, I promise. But it seems like buying a bike is far simpler than buying a car in that certain cars are pieces of sh*t, while pretty much any bike is going to about as good as the next bike in the same class.

I'll just go buy the 848 :twofinger

:leghump

I have to quote this one... That's specifically the one I like that caught my eye in the R6 arena. I suppose having bought the Buell that I own, I really like the "hidden" exhaust which is why I have such a hardon for the under-the-seat look of the R1/600RR. On top of that, the first bike I got a good look at was my friends 748. Again, not helping with my hidden exhaust fetish :p

I'd love to get that exact R6, but with this guys exhaust.

The dealer's reply of course is "anything is possible with the right amount of money" which is garbage since who knows what putting that exhaust on an R6 would do to it.

I hear lots of good things about the R6, but I never hear anything about the other.

You're not looking very hard, then. If you found any sportbike shootout you'd find the 600RR is judged the better all around bike (especially on the street) and easier to ride on the track.

What's wrong with your Buell, tho? If you're spending big $$$ for looks I guess it doesn't matter.

If you're going to do white, you might as well do it right. Skip the 600RR altogether and go with this.

and buying a bike as a penis extension is silly....

yes it is. you should buy a huge lifted truck with big tires that you never take off road as a penis extension.

I prefer the look of the R1's under seat exhaust, but I don't *need* an R1

FZ6. Underseat exhaust, and a far better streetbike (ergos, luggage) than the R6 or 600RR. :party

Don't forget the plastic testicles to hang from the bumper.

Where do those come from anyway? Never seen one on the street.

Let me guess...it's European, along with this:

Or, I don't know where to look, which is why I came here. Sure, I can walk down to Borders and pick up <insert motorcycle magazine here>, but that's not going to give me opinions from 100 different people that have all ridden them in different conditions

Nothing is wrong with my Buell, I just like variety. If I was just spending $$$ to look at something, I'd go buy myself an all chromed Harley :rolleyes

I think I just came................:cool

Its funny cuz Im having the same debate for my next bike eventho its not in the near future but I do want a 600. Im torn between the r6 and the cbr600. They are both purdy! I think the r6 is lighter at least the one that my friend has, I think its an 01 and I might buy that off him when he buys his r1. I've always been a Honda girl tho and I looooooooooooooove the CBR but right now its looking like the r6

Good Luck its a tough decision :thumbup

Danni, the R6 is basically a racebike with lights. Cliched to death but true. Nose down, arse up riding position and handling that is just this side of twitchy (doesn't seem to keep the squids from buying them though). Although Yamaha did massage the engine and blessed it with the variable intake tracts from the latest R1 in an effort to give the bike more midrange, the R6 still has a top-weighted powerband that makes perfect sense on the track. In the Real World, the Honda provides much more usable midrange power.

Honda did right with the latest 600RR, despite its lack of such goodies like a slipper clutch. ;)

The guys in the sportbike shootouts ride professionally and have the opportunity to ride the bikes in question back to back on the same circuit with the same tires. Doesn't get better than that really.

If you want various opinions anyway...at my very average build (Euro 50 leathers), the R6 was not comfortable to ride. I felt like I was perched on a gas tank more than riding a bike. I do not like the sensation of my forearms touching my knees in a "relaxed" riding position.

Unless you are really hardcore at the track and braking extremely late, can't you get by with a very steady clutch slip? I dunno...I guess I'll let you know in september. You can always add one later :teeth

Get a 1000RR and you'll have the fancy steering damper, a slipper clutch, and an engine/gearing that'll throw you out of corner exits faster than any other literbike.

As a former R6 owner, I also have to say that a 600RR is a waaaaay better bike for the street.
