R6 vs 600rr

If you want various opinions anyway...at my very average build (Euro 50 leathers), the R6 was not comfortable to ride. I felt like I was perched on a gas tank more than riding a bike. I do not like the sensation of my forearms touching my knees in a "relaxed" riding position.

its a resting platform when you slab it :teeth

I wear a 54 suit mainly due to my height (6'), and im still a bit bunched up on the 600RR, can't imagine riding the R6 :wtf

wewt!!! Usable info :D

It sounds so far like the 600RR is making out to be the better bike unless I want tobuy a track bike (not my intent). Looking forward to this Saturday to get on one and see what I think :D

Thanks everyone.

lets be realistic ,your not going to be going to the track! since you are debating a bike over some exhaust....if you want a real good street bike... get a speed triple!

a 600rr will get you this type of chick ,

Since when is 9000RPM considered midrange?

No - really. I'd honestly like to know when this awesome change in perspective took place.
On all of the 600s, power peak is north of 13K, torque peak is at about 11K, the torque curve doesn't start ramping up until 8K, and at 7K torque is 25% less than peak. That pretty much makes 9K "midrange".

It's been that way for 5 years at least.

from what i heard:
R6 - great track bike
CBR- great street bike
GSXR - great all around bike

you might want to sit on those 3 and see which one is the most comfortable for you.. i did the same thing and found the gixxer most comfortable so i went that way.. the r6 and gixxer looks better than the cbr in my opinion.. my first choice would have been the r6 if it didnt sit so damn high..

spend two minutes and do a google search for a comparison test between the two. the magazines beat this topic to death every year.

Get a 1000RR and you'll have the fancy steering damper, a slipper clutch, and an engine/gearing that'll throw you out of corner exits faster than any other literbike.

Except all those GSXR1000's that dominate AMA, right? :|

Oh, you're quite right. I should have recommended that OP buys a factory race bike instead of something available to the general public for $10k.

Thanks for pointing out that every major motorcycle reviewer doesn't know what they're talking about.

+1. That first girl is hawt enuff 4 me. 2nd one looks like she belongs at a particular annual Las Vegas convention.

And I'll take the white 600RR thank you.

I've owned both and I did not like having such a high peaking motor like the R6. While it was great in the twisties, it had to be rung so high the bike would be so damn loud. LOUD, ALL THE TIME. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. It gets annoying after 6 months and just gets cops attention all time. The 600rr's are actually drivable around 6-8k. Which is where I'm usually at on the street.

As for looks. The Honda is more conservative but has really nice lines. This is even how all of their cars look. It's really an opinion though, we dont all wear the same clothes, we all wont agree on what bike looks the best. Its up to you.

Ok seriously, there's no need for half of the motorcycles available in the U.S. today to be on the street. Whether or not the manufacturer says so expressly their products have way too much performance for the street with a power band that is specifically designed for RPM's in excess of 9K. That's not a good choice for the street.

Do yourself a favor and throw a leg over an F4i while you're at the Honda dealer. Sitting is free and you might be surprised.

Over $1k less and more comfortable than the R6 or CBR600RR. It can still pass R6s at the track, even when I'm riding it.

Here is the 600RR dyno plot. Peak torque of 46 ft lbs at around 11k as you stated, but theres plenty of torque on tap from 7k on. As you can see, the torque curve is pretty flat and meaty by 600CC standards

Now the R6 for comparison, yes it acts exactly as you state. Doesnt start to ramp at all until 9k, at 7k seems pretty weak sauce. The jump is even more pronounced, despite the 600RR graph having better resolution. There is a reason why they say the 600RR is one of the best street bikes of the bunch

the cbr does great at the track as well though. Lightest, rock stable chassis with a great linear power band.
