Really Salinas?

I mean it would be really cool if they were going to use it go to war against Santa Maria. But they're not.

They're going to use it on who?

Do you actually question the necessity of armored vehicles that private money couriers use on a daily basis in every city?

Why question the need for a police swat team to have one? Aren't swat teams called out for high risk situations? Situations that have an increased likelihood for bullets to fly their way?

Well technically Dave, the citizens of SF need these to protect themselves from police "Shot placement"!

JK!

What shit hitting what fan? Farmer brown drunkenly driving his tractor through the neighbor's field of lettuce?

Actually, it's not surprising. However it IS worrisome. Salinas has an INSANE gang problem. To the fact that a few of the LEO's are suspected active members. :|

^well just so long as those aren't the ones they let drive the Freedom Augmentation Vector, or whatever euphemism it goes by. :x

IBF: better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Its insurance and insurance costs money. Probably costs more to prosecute a cop killer than the cost of one armored vehicle.

How many of you would show up to a trackday on your 250 and say no to riding a 1000?

The gangs in Salinas are nuts… to the extent of needing a vehicle like this? probably not. But a lot of people buy Hayubusa's too, and I don't know of many people that need to go that fast in a straight line.

These are practically given away to Police Departments. Sure it's overkill but might as well get one. Too bad SWAT got dibs on it first, can see an excellent use by meter maids.

Then You don't know Salinas.

It has competed with ratings, with the other murder capitals of America.

I'm pretty sure Beau knows Salinas all too well.

I have mixed feelings about these things. It would be very helpful in an active shooting scene, but I dont think every cali city needs one. Cant they fucking share in a region?
For example, Fresno police got one , so the sheriff had to have one too.
Boys and their toys.
Those things would not do well in a shtf situation, btw. In Ukraine, molotovs turned them into mobile bbqs.

I'm all for equipping our police departments, properly. A mine resistant utility vehicle ? This is rediculous, a 28,000+ lb vehicle, it can't offroad and needs 70' to turn around.

This is more like taking a stretched swingarm hyabusa to Sears Point

Salinas has some of the most vicious gang warfare in CA.

I remember when Salinas was primarily agricultural and Spreckels still had a working sugar plant. Those days are gone. The surrounding areas are highly agricultural, but the city is no longer a place to buy western shirts and hay. I won't drive there at night.

This.

Anyone still thinkin salas (nickname for salinas) is still jus a lame farming town needs a reality check. HUGE gang war been goin on for years now. Nortenos vs surenos. Many places there are 100% shoot on sight. Meaning if an unknown vehicle is seen driving down a certain street n its not recognized, they shoot first, askin questions second.

I got family in Salas. Not a safe place.

:thumbup
And it extends beyond warfare between gangs...Someone wanting to join a gang, has to prove themselves, to be accepted.

Successfully robbing High dollar homes, stealing high dollar cars, Insurance fraud, anything that brings worthwhile money to the gang, is a plus.

How often does LAPD use it, probably as often as Ohio State. Who considered the cost and maintenance by the way that you and I will have to pay for.
