Congrats, dude. You've always a good friend to me Dave and I like hearing good news from friends.

No homo.

edit: This reminds me I haven't visited the LEO forum in a very long fucking time. I kinda assumed this thread was in the sink. :laughing

Thanks man! Don't say I didn't try to meet up with ya once. The timing and distance just didn't quite work out.

Congratulations on your promotion! I’m betting your wife is at least a little happy that you won’t be riding as part of your day job. Less risk that way.

Thank you!

You're probably right. When I first started riding my wife was very much against it. But surprisingly, when I took the motor assignment, she seemed pretty supportive of it.

I know I'm going to miss working on the motor every day. But at least I had a pretty good run of it for several years.

At the moment, I'm covering a patrol shift and doing some training, but I'm hoping I'll have about 2 more weeks on the motor in January before the promotion goes into effect.

My Mini has a front plate. It’s always been in the trunk.

Yup! I told my chief I'd stay at least 2 more years with the promotion. Prior to that I was considering next year. However, nothing is binding, so it's still completely up to me when I pull the trigger, and the chief recognizes that and is in support of that too.

First a big congratulation on the promotion, I am sure it is well deserved.

Second retirement is a personal decision for everyone. I also got a promotion last in my career, plant HR manager. Big bump in pay, my retirement was based on my 5 highest years. After 5 years I retired at 60 with no regrets. I have had 15 years of the best time of my life. 47 years and counting with my wife, several motorcycle tours of the Alps. Enjoy your promotion and take a good look at what you enjoy in life and what to use the years you have left. They do go fast.

PRO TIP: (This works every time!)

If you're ever stopped the first thing you ask the officer is if they know who you are. Say it with some conviction. "Do you know who I am?!?" If that doesn't work, tell the officer that you know the chief of police.
I thought the procedure was to roll down the window about 1/2" and refuse to produce an ID, yelling "I know my rights!"

If that doesn't work there's always the "I'm a sovereign citizen; I'm not driving - I'm traveling"...

And, "Don't touch me"!

That's a whole other animal. The vast majority of people think those sovereign citizen types are full of crap.

You did and I'm still sorry we couldn't make that happen.

Doesn't mean there won't be other possibilities in the future!

In hindsight, how can I be sure that wasn't some kind of sting operation. I've gotta be skeptical with you 5-0 people.

My lawyer says I have nothing to hide.

I dunno, about that nothing to hide; haven’t you been black in County of Orange? :laughing
