Skyrim

Ok, here's something cheesy I noticed about companions... I was playing and I gave Lydia a bow... somewhere along the line she picked up a dwarven arrow. We get into a giant archery duel and in the aftermath, I notice a ton of dwarven arrows littered around - i wasn't using them and the bandits didn't have any.. so I concluded that they must have come from Lydia. So to test my theory, I give her one ebony arrow... next archery duel, lots of ebony arrows in the snow... :laughing

I guess the upshot is if I want to be a snarky bastard, I can gather up few rare arrows for free after every fight...

I've also added a flame atronach to the party, lots of fun! The interesting thing with this game is that now I have a good solid character, I can play with the fun stuff.. I'm not sure if it would be so much fun if I started off playing the conjurer type (one of my favorite Oblivion chars... stealth conjurer.)

if you have the money to buy a ton of ignots, smithing is fast level ups, plus super useful if you use the smithing perks. alchemy on the other hand seems to take forever to level up, even when i buy out all of the alchemist ingredients whenever i can

i just saw an equipped set of dragon armor.

you look like Kain from FFII! that's rad!

Upham fast travels with Lydia to a battle site to reclaim loot. Oh shit, there's a dragon. Bust out the bow, take aim. WTF, the dragon is all electric-fire crackly and shit, like he's using some super power or somebody is using magic on his ass. No wait, he's dying and his soul is leaving. Damn, I better get over there quick.

Oh shit, I found out what killed the dragon: a bigger, badder, Blood Dragon. FFFUUU!!! I'm traveling light to pick up loot so I'm not well-armed, shit. Lucky I can run fast in light armor. No big tree or rock to hide behind and the blood dragon keeps frost-breathing me as I run away like a scared schoolgirl. Shit, shit, shit. Run, run, run.

Then the dragon leaves me alone, targeting some other peeps. Thalmor Justicars, huh? Never seen them before. I join in and start wailing on the dragon and kill it. After absorbing its soul, the Justicars are all bitchy, telling me to keep away from their prisoner. What prisoner, he's dead, so is one of your Justicars, fool! I had my blade sheathed, we weren't in combat, but they remained all bitchy and shit.

Lydia would not take any lip from them and just pulled her scimitar and took down each with a single blow, sheathed her blade, then looked at me, like, "What's next, boss?"

Oh, Lydia, I love you... I hate you... I love you... I hate you...

You know, I've had a couple of dragons swing by and I just ignored them since they wouldn't take the bait and land. They just flew around and ignored me too :laughing

The Lydia cartoon is so true...

It's funny how quickly a fight can go wrong - I was fighting some bandits in a cave and as I drew my bow and fired, my flame atronach jumped in front of me... 3x damage, dead. I'm thinking, crap. I draw my bow, fire and Lydia jumps in the way... 3x damage, dead... time to reload... :nchantr

Damn, double enchantments on armor is awesome! I've got Gauntlets, Ring, and Necklace enchanted with +40 Archery and +40 One-Handed, each. One-shotting everything I see.

gaddamn collateral damage, stupid dragon landing in towns then the bystanders gets in the way. town and dragon gang up on you.. ghey.

why does it say i lack the required skill to improve said item?
my smithing is at 100, what gives? :(

It doesn't mean you lack *A* skill, it means you are not masterful enough to improve it even further. There is no cap on how far the weapons can be improved, given you have the skill.

But I am already smithing 100, you say. How can I go further?

Fortify Smithing.
