Skyrim

i'm just pissed over the damn mouse lag. f that. also, my 8800gt might not be cutting it anymore. perhaps a 6970 is in order.

For the 360, Is everyone on the hardest difficulty setting? I seem to be getting dominated. I'm low lvl 10 and I'm climbing the 7000 steps and a saber cat just destroys me on my way up. A blocked hit takes like half my health. Whats my problem... lol It's hard to level up by killing creatures, when I can barely beat a spider one-on-one.

dual cast heal and RUN

I play default difficulty and the game seems to go up and down in difficulty. Cats were always a bitch, now it's bears. Trolls were bitch, now they aren't. It really depends on a lot of things such as your armor, health, and weapon. If you can't find enchanted armor and weapons, smith the crap out of what you have, and enchant them yourself.

fuck those bears!! i was like, "oh yeah? you want 10 bear pelts? no problem"
then i was like "fuck, them bears is beasts!"

You definitely need to work on boosting some skills and gear. You should also be able to have your assistant tag along to help take some stuff down.

Its also good to note that killing stuff isn't the only way to level in Skyrim. As you do things that add to other skills, your progress to your next level also gains. So time spent making hide armor (and that ability increases no matter what you make, so make stuff with cheap materials to boost the skill).. gets you better gear down the road, and buffs your level.

I boosted sneak and archery from the start then as I got the back stab perks incorporated one handed. The frost toll on the way to the grey beards gave me a beat down. Killed me in like 2 hits. Next load I climbed up the hill to a little flat spot and just pick it off with a bow.

I didn't know you can change the difficulty level in the game. I should increase it, most things are pretty easy to kill now. I've been surrounded by 3 polar bears and took them all down only had to use one big health potion.

Sadly you will still be bottle-necked at your cpu if the rest of your system is just as out dated.

what kind of speeds do i need for the cpu? is 3.0 - 3.2 ghz not enough?

Frequency isn't everything. Architecture, number of cores, memory interface... CPU's today are the same frequency (even perhaps a little lower on average) than CPU's of 5+ years ago, but they are much faster.

8800GTs are awesome in SLI if you have a board that supports it. You might be able to find another card on ebay real cheap if you're on a budget.

The tests I've seen so far suggest that Skyrim doesn't utilize much beyond 4 cores, and that it really only maxes out one of the primary cores it uses; so a fast quad core will likely be better than a mediocre hexa/octo-core.

The engine also seems to scale down nicely on lower resolution/graphics settings. I got decent frame rates w/ a dual core Athlon 2 and DDR2.. but it's not as pretty as it is on my gaming rig.

well, i bought a 6970 anyway. been meaning to start upgrading at some point so might as well start now.

Stop posting about this game! I'm trying to resist buying it. ;)

I really need to upgrade my pc. I would loved to have gotten it on pc instead of 360
