Skyrim

If you don't have a house yet, I had success storing my gear in a barrel outside Warmaiden's in Whiterun. There's two barrels side-by-side right in front. Played for about 8 hours without losing my gear, but ymmv.

Anyone know where to find the dog companion? You can have a dog and one human companion, 3 is better than 2.

after that, then you install all the cool player made hacks. Then you fire up the editor and make your own.

With luck you can finally give up on the game a few years after that.

So far that's what I'm doing with Fallout New Vegas. Some excellent new areas created by fans, with new encounters, buildings, etc.

Skyrim will be more of the same, I'll wager.

I'll have a system that runs it in another year or so :)

My coworker today told me that it has a random quest generator put in that makes the game basically endless. I played Oblivion until I did every last quest and explored the entire map. Maybe I should never start this game. :teeth

This is the main reason I bought it for the PC. I played Oblivion on the 360, but realized that I was missing out on a lot of cool user-created content over time. I'll have my hands full with just the game for some time, but I'm also looking forward to what other players come up with for this game.

Played a Dark Elf Rogue/Archer type last night and really enjoyed it. Leveled up more quickly now that I know more about how the leveling works, but I was also dying more than my Mage was. Guess all that Fire and Healing is a good way to go after all. :rofl

Definitely feel like putting on the heavy armor and getting into it from a melee standpoint, so I'll probably roll up an Orc warrior tonight, although knowing about the Arch Mage bonuses makes me want to play my mage more since I've done quite a few of the Mage college quests already.

So many options, so little time. Only 7 hours until I get to go home. :rofl

Got roughly the same stats, with the same issues.

I fixed it by picking up the Lord Stone blessing. +50 damage resistance and 50% less magic damage (or something like that).

Now when they close the distance on me I switch to dual-wielding sword and dagger. I need to level up one more time to pick up the perk that gives me +25% faster attack rate while dual-wielding.

I have a couple of basic questions for you guys that have more time in this game.

1. Where can I buy a house and for how much? When I did the initial "Kill the Dragon at the Western Tower" quest in Winterhall with a Nord I was offered the option of buying a house there at some point. I did the same quest with my Dark Elf last night and was not given the option to buy a house. I know, racist right? So where can a respectable Dark Elf Rogue type go to buy a house? I managed to pick up a follower and I just know she's going to cramp my sneaky style. Need to find a place to put her, preferably to make some sammiches while I'm out. :rofl

2. Where can I buy a horse? I mean seriously. Huge map, I've covered a lot of it with at least one character, but the stables typically have a horse and carriage I can hire but no horses for sale. Am I really going to have to steal one?

3. My overall health. Both characters I've been playing are getting comments from towns folk that I don't look too good. That I look exhausted, or that I look ill. How can I figure what is "wrong" with my character? Is there a way to address this. At first I thought it was because I hadn't rested my character enough, so I had him sleep at the Inn for 24 hours. Game said I woke up rested. As soon as I get downstairs I get a comment about how tired or sick I look. Anyone know what's going on here?

4. Vampires! Yes, I've found a cave with Vampires but no I don't think I managed to get bit. That said, has anyone managed to get bit and become a vampire? Is Lycanthropy in this game as something you can "catch"? No, I'm not a Twilight fan, but both "conditions" offer some interesting perks as well as challenges. I was a vampire in Oblivion.

If anyone has any insight for me I'd greatly appreciate it. :thumbup

Going to skip the Lycanthropy, but definitely going to look into contracting Vampirism again. In Oblivion sunlight would downright kill you. Now it just lowers your stats depending on what stage vampire you are (1-4). Feeding always returns you to stage 1, which is closest to human.
