Skyrim

I have a couple of basic questions for you guys that have more time in this game.

1. Where can I buy a house and for how much? When I did the initial "Kill the Dragon at the Western Tower" quest in Winterhall with a Nord I was offered the option of buying a house there at some point. I did the same quest with my Dark Elf last night and was not given the option to buy a house. I know, racist right? So where can a respectable Dark Elf Rogue type go to buy a house? I managed to pick up a follower and I just know she's going to cramp my sneaky style. Need to find a place to put her, preferably to make some sammiches while I'm out. :rofl

2. Where can I buy a horse? I mean seriously. Huge map, I've covered a lot of it with at least one character, but the stables typically have a horse and carriage I can hire but no horses for sale. Am I really going to have to steal one?

3. My overall health. Both characters I've been playing are getting comments from towns folk that I don't look too good. That I look exhausted, or that I look ill. How can I figure what is "wrong" with my character? Is there a way to address this. At first I thought it was because I hadn't rested my character enough, so I had him sleep at the Inn for 24 hours. Game said I woke up rested. As soon as I get downstairs I get a comment about how tired or sick I look. Anyone know what's going on here?

4. Vampires! Yes, I've found a cave with Vampires but no I don't think I managed to get bit. That said, has anyone managed to get bit and become a vampire? Is Lycanthropy in this game as something you can "catch"? No, I'm not a Twilight fan, but both "conditions" offer some interesting perks as well as challenges. I was a vampire in Oblivion.

If anyone has any insight for me I'd greatly appreciate it. :thumbup

1. Try talking to Avenicci again about buying the house in Whiterun.

2. There's a stable right outside the main gate from Whiterun. It's across from the Khajiit traveling camp. There's a guy there at the stables, usually outside, you can talk to about buying a horse.

3. Sounds like you're a vampire. That's how it was in Oblivion anyway though I haven't explore it in Skyrim yet. You probably contracted the disease and didn't cure it. Check the "Actives Effect" list in your Magic section and you'd probably see vampirism in there somewhere. Or maybe you just have some plain old disease from fighting skeevers, that should be in Active Effects too. If it's just a regular disease you can make or buy a Cure Disease potion to fix that.

4. I think Lycantrophy can only be achieve by completing the Companions quest line, since only the members of the Circle are werewolves.

Thank you very much for the info on the house, horse, and diseases. One of my characters has been sick like this but hasn't been in contact with vampires. I'll check to see if the other one has contracted vampirism, but it has been more than 72 hours and no transformation, so my guess is I'm "clean". I'll have to check when I get home tonight. Fak another 5 hours to go LOL!

Here is some info on getting a free dog companion: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Meeko and http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Followers (at the bottom of the page)

And I'm pretty sure I still have a Fallout save somewhere where I have a couple hundred tin cans...

Got to the stones and debated between melee or thief and went thief.

You're completely free to change your mind later, so don't worry. Just visit the stones again, or any of the other stones you'll find in the world.

my house will look like a hoarders episode after im done questing.. :laughing

I had a rule where I have to have 5 of everything in the game.

I hate those random quests where you have to find like a silver cup, and you realize you just grabbed and sold all the silver cups in the world.

Yep. Its called RPG-HS (for RPG Hoarding Syndrome). How am I supposed to buy a house if I can't bring myself to sell anythign? :rofl

I'm actually working the Alchemy angle and making some decent money. Working on dungeons and quests as well. Can't wait to have my own house though!

Can anyone verify whether you can install your own crafting stations in your home? What about furnishing the house? Can that be customized, you know, Skyrim Cribs style? :teeth

Yea, you'll want your house customized, buy from the same guy you get the house from. When you buy a house it comes with a bed and like 1 usable crate, lots of cobwebs and faux chests/barrels. You can buy like 5 upgrades for the Whiterun house. The most valuable of which is your own alchemy station.

Dunno if the more expensive houses can have things like a forge or enchanting station.

You know I've had this spinal/nerve problem going on for a few weeks now, and my HR department just verified that I can get up to 26 weeks of short term disability time off from work at 100% of my salary. I'm seeing an ortho on Friday, and I'm working on getting assigned to a neurologist at Stanford Neurology based on the results from my MRI last week. The cruelest part of the fact that I have been in constant pain, is that sitting at a computer and using a mouse is probably the most painful part, and I'd probably go insane if I couldn't play Skyrim on my PC if I were to be put on disability. Oh cruel world how you mock me! Can't ride my moto, make it painful to play games. :twofinger

Thanks for the insight on the houses in Skyrim!
