Warren Buffett: "Most investors should buy VOO and not try to beat the market or follow trends." (or something like that.)

yup, i heard something similar on the radio, a snippet of Warren Buffett's voice/advice : just buy a S&P 500 index fund instead of trying to time or beat the market

I'd have to look around to make sure, but GVAL, an international value fund that tends to lean towards countries with sizeable but depressed economies (Greece, some African and S. American countries, etc) and then the international growth funds that are part of the 2050 target date thingy at Vanguard or whoever is holding my 401(k) now.

It's a beautiful friday, the sun is out, and I'm staring out my office window looking at Mt Diablo. Oh, and it's payday, so looks like a great day to buy. :laughing

I just picked up some more XWEB and SCHD.

Yes, I bought a bit more SCHD:thumbup

Today is a good day. Dividend payment/reinvestment day. Nice when your investments work for you. :thumbup

C'mon baby, snowball! HFT's do your work and kick this thing into the mother of all flash crashes!

I knew there'd be a big drop late in the session today, but I was hoping for something more epic.

Everyone get the "keep calm" e-mail yesterday? :laughing

There is a silver lining if you have a 401(k) plan at work and your payday coincided with yesterday's dip ...

Yeah, the funny thing is that, while some people have picked up on the bias in news coverage these days, so many people just eat up the nonsense that flows out of market makers and pundits these days, even though they have as big of a conflict of interest as possible and should never be trusted when commenting on the market. The market is still massively, massively overvalued and the current dips are not corrections nor are they being driven by Trump's tariff announcements. The market has been in bizarre world for a long time now and volatility should become the new normal for a while, unless of course the Fed balks and slows rate increases and people continue to forget the basic idea that risk has a price.
