Stock Thread 2019

For the past decade every big drop has been a buying opportunity. Sure it won’t be that way forever.
Cash on the sidelines for pulling the trigger on fire sale prices is where people make bank.

Continue with 401k, but keeping money in reserve in my brokerage account. Who the fuck knows what Twitter in Chief decides to do next after watching some Fox News.

I'm thinking buy the dip. But I'm always wrong about when that is.

:laughing

I hold everything I have. I bought it for a reason.

It's a good time to visit Australia. The AUD is down to 69 US cents now, from 81 in January last year. I seem to be a reluctant forex speculator. :)

Probably for a reason. Commodities are going down (Aus's big product) and the China mess (Aus' biggest trading partner).

Yeah will be interesting to see how things change. Economy seems to be chugging along quite nicely regardless of any distractions. Not really able to place what will be it’s demise?

djia slipping as of late. looks like tech companies impacted.

any thoughts on infrastructure funds? I was thinking it may have a good run if the gov't decides to invest like they said they would.

Don't hold your breath.

So what's the strategy then?

1. Move everything to bonds.
2. Don't do anything, but prepare to weather the storm
3. 50/50

?

#3 is not necessarily a bad place to go.

Haven't really messed with bonds much. What have you found to be good? I'm with Fidelity.

I think I am 100% in FZAHX, which is a growth index focusing on technology. I really like the fund. Of course I see a lot of these juggernauts slowing down as we recess..

Also .gov will be bringing anti trust against some. They are already looking at FB and Google. Pretty sure Amazon is next.

Yep, concerns that it will be brought up, only to be dismissed.

Play it out, how do you break these up and why do you do it? Google feels like it has monopolized search with Chrome, but it hasn't. We still use safari on our iphones and other browsers are available for PC's and MAC's, we simply choose to use Google Chrome.

I think it will bring about reform regarding privacy. This is the next major frontier for our economy - to dismantle all of the invasion, inconsistency, and improper manipulation of our attention and personal space...

If looking for something to invest in and hold for a few years, I think you'll find the best value in companies recently hurt most by the trade wars.
