The Electric Motorcycle Thread

Thanks! A test ride through the Presidio and/or Hawk Hill would be worthwhile.

Interesting might have to make a ride down to the city

Energica had press riders out last week to test out the new Esse Esse 9. It comes with more power and hopefully more battery, I think it's the best chance for a 20 kWh bike. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbLaQzxCmpY&feature=youtu.be&t=10

If EICMA and Tokyo Motor Show don't show a 20 kWh battery bike, I'll install the 10 kW DigiNow Supercharger on my Zero and put up with 40 minutes to 80% charge. Because ~440 pounds will still be less than Energica's 620+ weight.

The Yamaha Electric Mountain Bike has a LHRB!

Yeah, that's odd. I doubt the production model will come setup like that (not that it's hard to swap around on a MTB).

I don't know how my mind copes with that change when I jump between motos and bicycles but it does some how. I keep thinking of swapping my bicycle to RHFB but I think I might be safer to keep it the way it is since I tend to grab handfuls of "right brake" and slide the back tire a bit on my mountain bicycle.

The european bicycle market uses LHRB, as do I. When I rent a mountian bike (as I do whenever I go to Whistler, etc) I make them switch to LHRB. Sometimes they grumble, but hey, it's a safety issue.

Interesting. Having worked at quite a few bike shops I only saw a few ppl with setups like that. Granted they were all shops in US. To each their own. :thumbup

I'll just leave this here.

I knew Harley wouldn't factor in the *E* game for long

It sounds like they found a major quality issue in production and are halting to fix that issue. Sounds like they are also making progress to understanding what that issue is and how to resolve it.

Not sure what you mean.

From an article that is actually keeping their statement whole:
As we lead in the electrification of motorcycles, we have delivered our first LiveWire motorcycles to authorized LiveWire dealers. We recently discovered a non-standard condition during a final quality check. We stopped production and deliveries, and began additional testing and analysis, which is progressing well. We are in close contact with our LiveWire dealers and customers and have assured them they can continue to ride LiveWire motorcycles. As usual, we’re keeping high quality as our top priority.

For customers who have taken delivery of LiveWire motorcycles, we’ve assured them they can continue to ride, and we’ve asked them to only use DC fast charging at this time.

Sounds like a major charging issue with standard wall outlets.
