The Electric Motorcycle Thread

I would have to ride it to find out =P I actually did sign up for the demo but I don't think I got a reply.

I've driven a ND Miata (the latest generation) and it has a collision alert system that beeps at you. Haha it reminds me of in the anime Gundam when imminent danger is happening it beeps at you in the same way.

I am actually more interesting in the variable ergonomics. If I can just press a button and go from a aggressive riding position then press it again and go to a upright riding position sounds good to me :)

It's too bad they don't provide any specs for it.

I want an electric Niken with adjustable wheelbase.

I'll believe it when it's in stores. The Electric motorcycle segment is filled with more false promises than religion.

BMW e-Power Roadster Concept

http://https://riders.drivemag.com/news/meet-the-bmw-e-power-roadster-concept-200-nm-of-torque

Generally, BMW comes up with some nice, if a bit quirky, design concepts.

Plunking a Tupperware tub in the eye-catching center is NOT my idea of cool, quirky, edgy design! But who knows, maybe it'll float?

13.0 kWh and 570 lbs from BMW is a reality check. Energica's new 20 kWh battery is bleeding edge but I think it will only go 136 miles in ~35 hp mode, and that's at 600 lbs with understeer. Looks like we'll have to wait another iteration for that 160 mile range.

136 miles on the open road at legalish speeds with 35 hp is perfectly reasonable to me because I'm thinking straight commuter mode.

Here another interesting bike that Segway built and may produce the Segway Apex. Pretty cool looking it's got some kinda spaceship kinda look to it.

Is Segway a Chinese enterprise? Kinda looks that way.
“2015 – April – Segway and Ninebot, Inc. complete strategic combination. The combined company will focus on research and development, manufacturing, sales and service in the short-distance transportation industry.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Segway
"Ninebot Inc., a Beijing-based transportation robotics startup and a Segway rival, acquired Segway in April 2015 having raised $80M from Xiaomi and Sequoia Capital."

Kind of a sad story, as Segway, invented by Dean Kamen, was an American company. Ninebot, a Chinese company, who makes segway clones, ends up buying Segway.
