The Home Grower's Thread

Think he means drain to waste, as opposed to drain to reuse. The real benefit from coco is with a quasi-hydroponic setup to give roots easy access to liquid feeding. Use coco with small pots, super root bound plants, feeding 4-6 times per light cycle. Go straight coco, or coco/perlite mix. I dunno if I'd go with mixing soil/coco because you have the negatives of both, when you could only have the negatives of one and indoor turnover is so short that compacting/aeration really isn't a problem. The coco/soil mix will promote a root bound plant, but a root bound plant is only a positive with a hydroponic setup, which is the better way to go btw. If you feel like buying hydro stuff and playing around...

I drain to waste...I've had good results with coco only. I have to give it extra CalMag sometimes. The two clones are in 100% soil.

Maybe I should stick with what's been working. I even grew a ton of herbs outdoors with only coco in a tiered plant pot.

Right now every pot is on a plastic non-draining tray. I take them out of the tent to inspect and water, over another plastic tray where I let it mostly drain off the excess.

I find using a BRITA style filter turns my water from greenish on the PH to pale yellow, so I've been doing that before adding nutrients. If I add nutrients I let it over-water and I test the PH of the drainage. If it's just water I try and give it just enough.

If you're getting good results and are happy with the product, I wouldn't mess with your process until you find yourself getting bored and looking to maximize yield, or are trying to fix a specific problem.

The bubbleponics kit looks fun. :)

I actually bought a second small pump to do a setup where it would spray the water right onto the roots directly....but as per usual my eyes get too big but I inevitably use it :)

I'm getting super excited to identify the males and toss them and put all the remaining effort into the females.

Do you have clones going from the ones you're currently growing? What are you growing anyway?

It's my first grow and I only have one tent so I didn't bother taking clippings that I can't put in the vegetative stage for another 6 weeks.

The clones are "Chem Dawg #4" and "Pink Cadillac". The #4 never fully recovered in time and has much less leaves than the others (I burned both clones with my original bucket grow when I added too hot an LED strip) but it's still alive and healthy...the other 4 are random seeds hence the need to throw away the males.

My next grow will be 2 strains of auto-flower feminized...no more of this random seed crap.

Sounds like nothing I'd want to be a part of... :(
"It's about the park. They can't stop us. You can freely go into this park any time you want to. I don't understand how they can put a fence around it and say you can't come in at this time. It makes no sense. This is our park," Jimmy said.

"It's horrible. This is what the hippie culture's about. Getting together, having a good time, being independent, caring for one another. But yet you have corporate, corporate people who want to shut that down," Kidd said.

The gate finally opened at 9:40 a.m. but everyone had to be patted down and some were turned away.

Large coolers are not allowed this year. That was also very frustrating to people who packed their own food and didn't want to buy the food that is here.

That is why they were late opening - all the vendors weren't in place yet.

Do these look male or female to you?

i love how there's a gun build thread and weed growing thread in this forum.

fucking biker trash doing biker shit lol.

Ok definitely male. I still have 4 females now.

These are the two I pulled:

And a female for reference:

Lot more room in the grow tent now.

Bottom left is clone that never fully recovered and top right is one that recovered but has some yellow leaves I think a nutrient issue. The other two are the randoms that are both female and quite healthy in 100% coco. Did some minor supercropping with the tallest stems, but they should be good to grow from here.

So in my constant tinkering/upgrading, I regret spending the money on the 600 watt upgrade because I decided to go LED....mostly because the one I got simulates a 600 watt while using less than half the electricity. It should pay for itself. Plus it has built in cooling so I can just vent directly out, and has switches for veg/bloom so no need to unscrew the duct, unscrew the bulb and put in a new one each time I switch cycles.

From what I read it should work out well. My only concern is coverage since it seems to be more concerated and less spread out...I might do only 4 auto-flowering plants next grow...now sure

Advanced Platinum Series P450 450w 12-band LED Grow Light - DUAL VEG/FLOWER FULL SPECTRUM

I was looking at that very light as an upgrade depending on how the current crop does.

Maybe it is just a white balance issue on the camera, but the light looks awfully red - most of what I've seen on that light shows it putting out pretty neutral light.

Keep us posted on how it works.

The "bloom" light alone is very red and when you turn on the Veg light (they both need to be on for bloom) it fills out more, but in the photo looks more red/purple.

I just checked and it comes out pretty neutral to my eyes but very purple/red on the phone.

They seem to be doing well but it's only been 2 days. Temps are a lot lower, I'm running the fan @ 75%...electricity savings should be nice. The weed will effectively be free eventually ;)
