The left lane

Where's the thread police when I need 'em :mad

fuck the prius driver getting on the freeway today for not using the gas pedal but actually slowing down to get on the freeway!

(God I wish they did this in CA)

You've never driven in WA, have you? :rofl

Every single lane, 58mph. No lane splitting.

Enjoy!

Seriously, in CA we have it *pretty damn good* in terms of road speed and lane discipline, relative to other states I've spent time in.. believe it or not.

But for a motorcyclist, is it not inherently more dangerous to drive in lane #2 because now you have 2 lanes of traffic to worry about killing you whereas before you only had to worry about one lane over?

That's the same attitude the left lane blockers have. They'd have to get off the cell phone or put down the latte or do something other than stare off into space if they had to worry about cars on *both* sides! How terrifying! Better stay in the #1 lane.

Yep. FWIW, speed enforcement has always struck me as more slack here too. Doesn't mean I've never gotten ticket, just that CA seems more tolerant of a little extra speed than was the case when I lived in WA.

No I haven't, although this has bugged since I've been operating a motor vehicle. It wasn't meant to be solely about riding nor was it intended to be about CA only.

It's the same way on the East coast too, although some areas seem to have a better sense about it than others. DC was particularly bad, but places like the PA turnpike are not. That is two lanes for a lot of the way too.

Ain't you it? Rascist!:laughing:twofinger

Marc, that comment earlier was intended for everyone that kept bringing up the subject and not just you. I agree it is silly, it just kept dragging on. Sorry for my potty mouth. :teeth

I got you in the sweetest spot in my heart, Dan. Just don't tell Heather.

Question: Why do BUSES always drive in the left lane? They're certainly not passing ANYBODY and their lack of ability to accelerate quickly really messes up traffic. And either they drive 65 on the nose or they speed like everyone else....

I often record buses on my Contour and where it shows them doing 75 MPH...can one report someone to the police and provide evidence of minor law infractions while CC'ing the bus company to demonstrate their drivers are speeding or driving in the passing lane?

Are we talking about buses in the HOV lane during commute hours?

I don't think so. Buses are in the left lane everyday on the bay bridge. I have wondered this myself. Many get off at the fifth avenue exit (west bound), although most days they are already in the left lane before the tunnel.

Sometimes stacked 3 or 4 deep...

I find them difficult to lane split by and have to time it properly to be safe.

I'd honestly have no issue sending video or photographic evidence to their companies requesting they keep their bus drivers out of the left lane especially during rush hour, but it would probably be laughed at.

It isn't worth trying to squeeze out a bus or truck. I'll share in a lane over to get around.

Data Dan put up some stat or study that showed a large portion of sharing fatalities were due to buses and trucks.
