out of whack salaries on the 29th ranked defense? say it ain't so! I wonder what will happen with Seymours $15M contract for next year.

He'll get cut, go back to the Pats at a reduced contract and be wildly successful, just like every other deal Darth Hoodie has made to steal draft picks by letting others borrow his minions. :laughing

so on 95.7 last night, someone called in with a valentine's wish:

pull a Ditka and trade the draft to Indy for Andrew Luck. crazy you say? but wait...

-Irsay changes his mind about Peyton and Peyton agrees to stay
-Irsay gets a ton of picks to rebuild the team
-SF says 'Bye' to Smith for Luck, who instantly hops over Kaepernick as the starter. the Luck-Harbaugh magic is back on track.
-the 49ers move into their brand spanking new building in about 3 years, with Luck at the helm and Harbaugh running the show, which would be worth thousands of more personal seat licenses sold (yes, they're doing that).

a pipe dream, yes. but an intriguing thought nonetheless...

^
Yes, it only has an upside for Indy, I mean it only took the Saints 7 or 8 years to recover from the Ditka deals....

That would be sweet if they were a QB away from being elite, but they've got more holes than just QB.

sure, but this one's different in the sense that SF would be getting Luck, not Ricky Williams

yeah but they'd still have to find a wideout, a right guard, an outside linebacker across from Smith, and make sure they keep Rogers and Goldson.

i have faith in harbaugh's ability to recognize and develop qb talent. if they moved up to get kaepernick, you have to believe:

a) harbaugh thinks he can make an elite qb out of him; and
b) they never had any intention of giving up the amount of picks and/or players it would take to move up and get luck.

not just a RG, some more depth on the o-line aside from alex boone (75 - decent enough) and chilo rachal (62 - who may be gone soon and has not noticeably improved in 3 years).

76 and 77 should be solid for another season. in fact they should improve again, as they did from year 1 to year 2.

...but 74 may hurt his knee again.
... and 59 and 68 are both solid but have a lot of use on those treads. not many years left on either one and both probably more injury prone now.

so is chase beeler (61) the C of the future? is daniel kilgore (67) a starting G in waiting? i think 'not' and 'maybe'.

are there any options in the draft? fuck if i know.

in order of importance i see the scarlet and gold's priorities as:
- WR (Morgan healthy and also draft or FA or both)
- resigning DB's or drafting instant impact starters
- O-Line RG / depth across the line
- resigning 55
- find competition for Boobie as 21's heir apparent. make or break time for 24 in the next (their 1st!) training camp

betting the farm for Luck is not only fucking retarded it is also anathema to what Baalke and Harbaugh are doing and the way they're running this ship.

the prognosticating on how or why it might happen always seems to ignore that key fact. trading away 3-4 years worth of draft capital for a rookie QB is NOT all about "the team, the team, the team."

it wont happen. get over it. enjoy the success we'll have without A.Luck. that is all.

Peter Konz

They'd have to probably trade up to get him. Best C in college football this year, and he can also play guard for 2 seasons until Goodwin's contract is up, then move over and anchor the line for the next decade.

the buccaneers hired jimmy raye as a senior offensive assistant. so what's the over under on schiano's firing? 24 games? 32?

Fixed. :teeth

this is supposed to be a deep draft and a deep draft in areas the niners could use some help: wr, cb, guard, rb. if anything the niners should trade down to get more picks.

yeah, yeah, njy your "2012 lombardi trophy presented by kyle williams"

hey, it was one guy's valentines wish on the radio that I thought interesting. apparently I am understanding that you disagree. You can creep back from the ledge now, yo.

And actually I'd rather enjoy it if the 9ers start tanking again. 2010 Titans style :party

I can't wait until they get rid of the Blackouts crap.

Those that can't make it to a game for any reason should not be prevented from watching their team.

+1

blackouts are the fault of ownership charging too much, rather than the fault of customers not paying enough.

That, and piss poor product on the field.

Mismanaged teams should not be rewarded with artificially subsidized sales.

They should be driven before us on the streets, lynched, and replaced with new management.

The worst is being a fan like myself. I pay about $350 a year for the Sunday Ticket. Now, if the Raiders are on a bye week, and my local CBS decides to carry it (being an AFC team) then I can't watch it through Sunday Ticket.

So if I am stuck at work, I can't stream it through the Sunday Ticket service, and CBS doesn't offer online viewing.

That really pisses me off. :mad
