The Official 2015/2016 NFL Thread

Yeah. That was hours ago.

30 minutes ago Jason Cole broke on twitter that the Chargers have been given permission to move and share an Inglewood stadium with the Rams.

Spanos seemed pretty adamant given the contractual commitments made with the Raiders...

Curiouser and curiouser.

Right, Tomlin got heavily fined for interfering with a play.

But Joey Porter yelled curse words at the Bengals and hurt their feelings? Grow up Bengals. :x

I dont know what youre talking about. Coaches on NFL teams do not curse and yell at players from the opposing teams on a regular basis from the sidelines.

Yessssss. Raiders are staying. :banana

I still wonder what the odds are on them joining the 9ers in Santa Clara.

I would say significantly better with the bottom falling out in ticket prices down there. The Niners may be a lot more excited to have a partner, but I wouldn't count the Raiders out in L.A. YET.

So right now the Chargers have an OPTION to join the Rams in L.A.. If they choose NOT to exercise the option and stay in San Diego (assuming a new stadium deal is reached between San Diego and the Chargers, who seem pretty pissed at the NFL right now for putting a kibosh on their Stadium plan) Then the Raiders have the right to pick up the option and partner with the Rams in L.A. like the old days. The NFL ALSO promised Spanos $100 Mill to stay in SD, which makes a deal in SD much more likely for them there. The Raiders may yet go down there to represent the AFC in L.A., but the Chargers just get first pick is all.

If L.A. doesn't work out, the Raiders still have that San Antonio, Texas deal to consider, which would require another vote by NFL ownership.

Jerry Jones is now one of the most powerful owners in the NFL, he isn't going to want the Raiders in Texas, he's fairly chaffed that the Cowboys are playing second fiddle to JJ Watt (and the rest of the Texans, of course).

The NFL also promised $100 mil to the Raiders to stay in Oakland, but let's face it, and this is just about everywhere in CA, the days of the public fund handouts to build stadiums are over. The SF Giants couldn't get it, the 9ers couldn't get it, and even this deal in LA is private.

as it should be.

I was listening to Greg Kosell on the radio this morning talking about Mad Dad (Tom Coughlin). If he is to be the hire, I certainly feel better about it. Kosell was effusive with praise for Coughlin, his professionalism, prep and skills. We'll see.

I don't think any of that stuff is the issue with Coughlin.

I think it's the fact that he's not going to be around for 5 years, 10 years, whatever.

Hopefully if he is hired he will bring on his successor with him, as OC or DC or whatever, where it's sort of a known thing that he'll be taking over and carrying on after Coughlin leaves.

The assistant coaches curse like a sailor when volcanic opposing players (Pacman for example) get near their sideline. Everybody talks shit to everybody, it's the NFL.

Hue Jackson hired by the Browns, he's in your Division now!

Re: Chargers and/or Rams. I understand Los Angeles is a huge and important media market. I understand the NBA and MLB do well there but their business model is different because of big money from local market TV contracts.

Can anyone explain why the NFL thinks having a team in the Los Angeles market will work this time?
