... and just so you aren't tooooo butthurt, here's my projection....

Chafed...not hurt.

Besides you're overall prediction is only different from mine by two games.

I'll be the first to admit that mine is optimistic. Not by much though.

People were saying 3 wins, and I just don't see that happening.

I did give preference to teams at home in the Eastern Time Zone, that's why I picked Pittsburgh & the Giants to win at home, and it was hard to pick them losing 4 games in a row, but that's a tough run in October. (Green Bay hasn't played the 9ers well in a while, so they have to prove they can win in SF.)

That last stretch will define the 9ers future, 4 of the last 6 are at home...

I think people are severely overestimating the "damage" the departures have had while at the same time underestimating the amount of effort Tomsula and his staff are going to get out of the players. Some of the pics could turn out to be losses but I see them picking up wins elsewhere if that's the case.

The litmus will be the first four games. It will also determine whether or not the players continue to believe in the new coaching regime's (and possibly the FO's?) message.

I have been inclined to agree with you about overreacting to the damage from staffing changes. This team is clearly not as good as it was last year, but it also grossly underperformed last year. If they rise up to their reduced potential, I still think 9-7 is probably more realistic for them as a best case scenario.

I don't know if I'm ready to go there. For me there are some question marks. That doesn't mean they aren't as good it just means it still needs to be put to the true test.

Getting rid of Roman is good for at least another 21 total points on offense in my estimation.

Anthony Davis
Chris Borland
Justin Smith
Patrick Willis
Frank Gore
Aldon Smith

I think its safe to say our team is not as good as it was last year. :laughing Glad you are so optimistic though! This season is going to be ugly.

Yeah, brah, you're pipe smoking. I mean, like I said, I'm not ready to proclaim the wheels have fallen off, but the talent drain was HUGE and has not been replaced. Most of the guys who are filling in for the lost talent were already depth guys last year so that is still a net loss of talent.

he may be right tho, 21 point extra for the whole season isn't unfounded...especially since they're going to play a lot of games where it's over by halftime, and Kaep's just going to throw it up against prevent defenses. :laughing

:laughing You remind me of me in '04 when I was on here talking about, "OF COURSE THE GIANTS WILL WIN THE SUPERBOWL THIS YEAR," after a 4-12 season in '03. :laughing

Thanks for agreeing with me. I'm not sure I'm on board with them beating teams by double digit scores though. Thanks for the added spurt of optimism. :twofinger

:laughing

Not at all. You get shit 'cuz your initials are JD.

I guess you missed the part where I said people are over-emphasizing the losses and under-estimating Tomsula and his coaching staff.

How many NFL games has Tomsula coached? Does he have an idea how to be a good head coach? Can't tell til the season starts.

Good to have optimism for your team, that's normal for any fan. Realism says Niners will have a losing record though, sorry.

Im a niners fan, but 6-10 would be a good season at this point.

I'm not, and I talk a lot of crap, but really...who are the 49ers this year? I don't think anyone can really predict how they'll do. they weren't as bad as their 8-8 record last year. sure, they lost a lot of proven talent especially on defense. And their head coach definitely doesn't have the personality that Harbs did. I think 6-10 is reasonable. I'll give them 7-9.

for the Raiders: 8-8. they go 3-3 in the division, sweeping the Chargers. they beat the teams they can, falter a bit at the end but scrape a .500 record out of the season:
