The Official 2017/2018 NFL Thread

so the video clip pre-negotiation is more of a Terry Tate, Office Linebacker motivational tool? :laughing

(i am aware the idea he shows this before negotiations was said in jest)

Exactly. We don't want anyone who ties a knot in it and hangs in there! We want folks who are more than willing and capable of knocking the shit out of whoever forced us to the end of the rope! :teeth

Is Marshawn Lynch really going to make it back into the league with the Raiders?

I'd take Lynch over Peterson, and he'll play til they they move to LV and retire again.

Nobody has anything on the "Romo no mo'"?

Kinda bummed to see Romo retire.. but I would venture its probably the best thing for him. Would hate to see him come back just to get hurt again...

Today on RK they had a guest on there that said something about Romo going out to play more golf and potentially at the PGA level... haha that would be something else.

How would his back hold up to that though?

Too much torque. He's had major surgery on his back to repair injury. Too much to play competitively. If anything it'd just be a gig for golfers to get the chance to rub up against a real athlete.

I think he will be a fun guy to watch as an announcer. I could almost forgive him for being a Cowgirl. He seems like a genuinely likable, funny dude.

He cant be worse than Simms. I dont usually have much of an opinion on the announcers, but Simms can't even pronounce team names correctly. Annoying as hell. I hope Romo does well. My guess is he finds a way to get injured in the booth. :laughing

The only announcer who rubs me wrong is Collinsworth. Everything about him just begs to be punched in the face. From his shit eating smirk to his whiny, bitch-assed voice. I've had to watch Sunday Night football with the sound completely off for years now. And while I'm not a huge fan of Al Michaels the info he provides is at least interesting at times. Or at least that's the way I remember it.

aikman is a piece of shit too. might be my niners bias.

I think Romo will do better than Simms. Simms sounded like he just walked out of a bar 15 minutes prior to going on air. As annoying as Collinsworth can be at times, at least he sounds like he does some actual prep work.

It may be sacrilegious, but I have never understood the Phil Simms thing. He bored me as an announcer, and I get he had the greatest performance by a QB in a Superbowl like EVER, but I still don't see why he is in the HoF. He made the pro bowl like twice. His QB rating was not that good. I always felt like he just kind of got in by Association with one of the all time great franchises in the 1980's Giants. Maybe his leadership abilities were significant enough to get them to take him seriously, but I have a hard time seeing it based on his personality with the press.

Good to always hate Aikman, but I can't stand Steve Young. He seems so fucking bitter whenever he talks about QB's and seems like he is always trying to pick a fight about the young ones. I'm like, "Bro, your game is done and you will never step out from under Joe Montana's shadow, just own it and be cool. :laughing

Agreed, but FFS stop putting Aikman on Niners games.

I don't mind Aikman. His commentary is straight forward with little to no hyperbole. I don't even mind Irvin even though he has a full on bias toward the Cowboys. I can't find fault with his analysis or delivery.

No, it's really not.

His commentary is painful only because it's the truth and it's bitter to swallow when coming from him because Cowboys of the 90s. When Harbs was here Aikman had plenty positive to say about our team.

His commentary is usually fine, the obvious bias he holds and can't let go of because of the 90s is what's annoying.
