People who have ideas that are put down by a majority always scream that they are in an "echo chamber" of the opposing viewpoints. I say bullshit.
Maybe, as I said, your ideas are that bad, or you are bringing them to the wrong place and you just don't have like-minded support there (or your like minded folks decided to keep silent)
Bay Area riders will likely lean a certain way given the larger political demographics, certain ideas will likely be unpopular to a majority of average bay area people, where maybe on a gun forum in texas, they would be cheered in that "echo chamber"
Know your audience and be prepared for vocal thumbs down from 100% of respondents. Deal with it or STFU.
