Well, it could work as a bit of an encouragement to be civil. Otherwise they could be ejected from the thread without a refund.
 
There is a chat with most of the future members.

No incivility since it opened a month or so ago.

Some admonishments, yes, but no negative reactions.

Incentives work, make a fine schedule and stick to it. Like a swear jar for big kids. Don't want to pay, don't get to play. Deep pocket members might have get hit harder, have Bud collect some W-2s...:)
 
I ended up refunding a donation after a user got stung for being an ass and then decided he was leaving. He asked for the coin and it was returned.

Unfortunately I paid taxes on his donation so lost a few bux there.

Maybe a penalty payment. You were a dick. If you want to stay then throw a fiddy at me :laughing

Chris, when I USED to be in the polsink, you and I didn't agree on much, but i wholeheartedly agree with you on this. :laughing
I'm glad Budman is bringing it back because these topics need to be discussed, but unless I am sitting next to someone, in person, i don't really get into politics anymore. People are much more REAL about things when they are confronted with the reality of another human in close proximity.
 
The Oxford dictionary’s word of the year for 2025 is “rage bait”. Actually that’s two words.

Anyway the definition is “Content (posts, videos, comments) designed to be frustrating, offensive, or provocative to generate angry reactions and boost clicks/views.”
“Emotional manipulation” if you want to boil it down.

I thought this is appropriate to mention as we reboot the pol sink

6 7 is part of what, as a coach, I described 'attention getting'. There's a difference between popular and the attention-getters, by my definition.

Anyone can wear provocative attire, pierce a body part that defies logic or ink their skin in elaborate fashion. Someone can cuss, speak controversially or shout out, "6 7" and disrupt a classroom. That's not a popular kid, just one that gets attention.

Same kids, the bar has been raised on what shocks and grabs attention.

Nope, I'm actually looking forward to helpful conversation and exchange of information. You're already off on the wrong foot making divisive statements and exactly why polsink 2.0 will fail if people keep acting like they did before and why 1.0 was shut down.
