warr77's rear end collision in SF

I don't know what is this "didn't see you" this lady is giving.. --- she must've been dialing on her iPhone!!! WTF . Or fumbling in the bag for lipstick.

As for splitting, in many places in the city I find it hard to lane split, but maybe I'm just not an "aggressive splitter". Just the other week I think I remember I couldn't split on Fulton (central park area)--because the cars were too close. (Fulton is two lane each way).

You could subpoena her phone records...

to be honest, any of those streets in the richmond/sunset area are (in my opinion) "hard to split" streets considering the amount of inconsiderate drivers out there! :)

funny she kept insisting that she wasn't texting or anything :)

She most likely reporting truthfully. Problem was that her attention was split, focused on No. 1 and No. 3 lane, and couldn't handle the third critical area: right in front. Not rare with elderly.

I think GoPro cameras should sponsor him :teeth.
I am really considering getting a camera and mounting on the helmet.
Really takes the BS out of what happened.
Just really gald you are okay.
RC

Wow!!! Glad you're standing I bet you hurt though. Also glad her reaction was to see if you were OK. Stupid yes, but so many hit and run these days, bet her license, insurance, and registration are in order.

This really makes me want a camera.

On these GoPros does it have like a "loop" function or something? I mean, do you just keep it on at all times? When it runs out of memory can you have it atuomatically start over and record back over?

Know what I mean?

I am clueless as to how long you can record?

oh.. ok, so she's just an utterly incompetent driver.

No "loop" function. You have to clean the SD card.

Hey War77,

I have watched this a ton and still it creeps me out. You can see the car coming in your mirrors just before impact and it is not going slow!!:wow

Did you find out why the car in front of the SUV was stopped in the middle of the road? It's the middle lane and nowhere to turn or anything. Just curious it really is scary.

Let us know what the doc said too. :thumbup

to the OP. glad you were not hurt.

------------------------

if I can't see pass the vehicle in front of me I move to an adjacent lane or back off. that vehicle stop all of a sudden? I have one eye on a mirror as I'm coming to a stop. nothing gives me more of a puckered moment than being stuck behind a stopped vehicle while traffic being me is still moving.

No loop, but with these cameras you're more restricted by battery life than by storage space. If you get a 32GB card, your battery will die (2.5 hours, give or take) before you fill up the card (something like 8 hours at 720p). So some thoughts are: keep some extra batteries on you for when one dies, and just purge the card when it fills if nothing happened worth saving (it's an option in the camera's menu).
