Full gear (2 piece leather) 99.8% of the time. Only ware jeans 3 time on local street - somehow my butt sliding all over the seat :wtf. Not a very comfortable feeling. When I wear jeans, I did put a pair of knee guard under it - still feel kind of naked :laughing

i wear jeans but always have my Dainese knee protector under it.... but use full leather when i go out riding on the weekend.

Guilty here. 100% of the time I ride = jeans & work boots.
If it's cold(>60 degrees), I wear sweats underneath.

If I had/could afford full leathers - I'd wear them all the time.

i'll wear jeans on a cruise through town or a mellow ride. i never go without my jacket or gloves or boots.

more often, especially commuting or in the twisties, i have textiles on over my jeans or my mesh textiles in the summer.

Jeans all the time.....under my Darien.

Jeans just don't hold up. They're about as useful as shorts. And for those of you wearing knee pads and the like under/over the jeans, don't fool yourself that you're doing much good. What are the chances that you'll land only on your knees? Practically nil.

I always wear my EVS Option Knee/Shin Guards under my jeans/khakis when I commute to work, and on weekend rides (in addition to jacket/shoes/gloves/helmet). I just bought a pair of Fieldsheer textile pants that I will now use on weekend rides.

Jeans just don't hold up.

A couple of weekends ago, I was riding on the Central Freeway and came across a guy who had dumped his cruiser in the right-hand lane. I pulled up behind him, put my flashers on, and helped him pick it up. He was OK, but later when I caught up to him on Duboce I noticed that his jeans were torn and his knee was bleeding.

It couldn't have been a very serious accident -- he probably wasn't going more than 5-10 mph when it happened -- but it still tore right through his jeans.

Here's a fun little thing to do: next time you're riding and there's no traffic, just look straight down at the asphalt whizzing by beneath your bike. Then imagine your body making contact with that same whizzing asphalt. Not a pretty picture, is it?

Mind you, I'm not a gear nazi -- I don't care what other people wear, in fact sometimes I appreciate when d00dz on bikes are skimpily dressed :leghump. But although I've ridden in jeans and less in the past, I just don't think it's worth taking that risk anymore.

i'll wear jeans and work boots if im heading to school or if its something like going to a friends house. ill wear my race boots and leather pants for everything else. o gloves and leather jacket no matter what it is. :thumbup

Check out TILT Customs, two piece made to fit (20 measurements) high quality suit for $425.

I really don't see how anyone can NOT afford these.

+1 pretty much word for word. 'cept to add that jeans are not as supportive and leather, and when i'm in jeans it makes my balls get all mashed against the tank because their goldenness is not insulated by the firmness and protection that the leather provides. jeans hurt.... maybe thats what he meant by 'not very comforatble feeling' :laughing

and to mention that jeans making one feel naked....very true. but on the other hand, dont let the leathers give you a false sense of security. as a few have said, leather will not save from blunt impact force, only from sliding your *own* hide off !

no jeans for me.

Being able to step out of a stitch while wearing a business suit is priceless.

I took a little spill in my Draggin jeans. By the time I transitioned from the bike to the ground, I was off the pavement and under 10 mph so very little to no abrasions. The impact, however, was a different story. I upgraded to leather with armor and have only worn the jeans once in the last two years. I may reconsider if I add armor under the jeans but I feel a little nekid in dem jeans.

Recently added Tour Master textile overpants with armor to the mix for commuting.

I wear a kilt. What do I check? Oh, btw, the thong underneath is leather, does that count, I figure it's not "full leather" because of the back...? Is this TMI?

:laughing :barf oh, I gross myself out somtimes.

i gotta disagree to a point. i went down and jeans and mine held up great. granted they were the thicker denim jeans. not those metrosexual faded/ripped crap. i will post pics after work tonight if u like. two very small holes around the ankle area. on one side.... not to bad if u ask me.

if i was wearing proper boots, i doubt they would of even torn the way they did.

i wear jeans. and will continue to. i also just purchased some a* riding pants. so ill alternate between the two.

Well, I used to

For many years, I wore a decent jacket, good lid, gloves, boots - and jeans. I got away with it too. I didn't even change after my one bad, bike-totaling accident, as I wasn't injured.
A lot of the issue, for me was lack of funds, and later, lack of appropriate sizes for big fat guys such as I had become. Neither excuse is terribly good, though, and I finally started to think more clearly about this a couple of years ago. Now I have leather overpants for winter and kevlar-armored jeans for the summer.
And of course, now that I'm starting to seriously lose the excess weight, I'm going to have to replace them in not too long.
