Wine Country Ablaze

Saw pics in the paper of neighbors on their property yesterday so I tried to get in again today hoping to try to find a couple things in the ash before the rain turns it to toxic muck. No dice. They are scrambling to block storm drains now before the rains fill the local streams with toxic runoff from all the bad stuff in the rubble.

To answer thumperx’s question from a couple days back that I missed, we are all doing fine. My mom got taken to a b&b by some friends to get away from all the stress. The support we are receiving and witnessing has been amazing. :thumbup

It is raining up here right now!!!! Not hard, but enough to be a wonderful blessing during the difficult times we have been through.

I am signing off for a few days. I will be back. Just need to get some sleep and get my body back.

Thanks for the support.

^^^just $upported the $hit out of silver oak/twomey at a local food pairing thingy this evening.:laughing

^ NICE. I grabbed lunch in Occidental last week. Place seemed pretty empty and they were glad to see us.

I'm off this weekend for AFM but will be at the winery all next week. Come on by

It definitely will help those who have been affected return to normalcy if people keep visiting.

I haven't worked in two weeks. That's no hours, no tips, no commissions, no bonuses.

Though I'm living within my means currently, I can't help but admit I'm a little concerned. A two week gap in paychecks will be noticeable. A bigger gap will start hurting.

Hoping that there enough going on next week to warrant my return.

Dierks Parkside Cafe is open and you can actually walk on mid morning and get a seat, well at least yesterday. Even better, you could pull in and park.

My wife is a server, she signed up for unemployment for the time she was out. Might work for you, that's why we all pay into it!

You're one of the folks I've been worried about. :x

You definitely should apply for unemployment.

Even independent contractors can now due to the disaster.

Disaster Unemployment Assistance
If the President of the United States declares a disaster in your area, payment of Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) may be authorized. Individuals who become unemployed as a result of the disaster, and who do not qualify for regular Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits, may file for DUA. Refer to the EDD Fact Sheet Disaster Employment Assistance: English | Spanish.
