Wine Country Ablaze

I've got space in Richmond for moto's, stuff or dogs if anyone needs.

Being told my moms house is gone. We’ve tried to get in twice but Larkfield is like a war zone so no dice. What a shit storm for all these people. :(

I am sorry man. Hope your Mom can hang in. Glad she is safe.

I am also a long ways away in the City but if you need a place to crash I can put up one or two folks. I have an inflatable mattress and a thermarest for you. Street parking for bikes, no permit needed.

They called up any available off duty Volunteer Firefighter in the Rio Dell/Scotia fire districts, we're 140 miles away.

Damn, that is a ways away.

Surprised there is no talk about looting. When I was living up north and there was the fires off Hwy 36 people's farms were getting robbed and houses being broken into. Crazy what opportunists thieves are.

It happened when my mom was evacuated earlier this year for a fire. Piece of shit scumbags. :mad

If any BARF evacuees need a place to crash or just a place to store some bikes, we have a spare room in our house and I've got room in the garage for some bikes - in Daly City, so not super close, but there if someone needs it.

Ditto.

My cousin lost her house.

:(

Fuck. I am so sorry Daniel.

Along with the garage space, we also have a spare room.

If anyone needs things moved or transported, I have a 5x6 enclosed trailer.

I'm finally seeing the news on TV... wow, this is so hard to see, it really does look like a war zone, so much destruction.

:(

Came up for air. Nothing but smoke. Feels like living in a Vegas casino.

Dark now.

Except for the fires all around.

Got friends who have list their homes up and down the valleys. Two can't get ahold of elderly parents and welfare checks came back negative.

The couple who died, I built their koi pond. :rose

This isn't just a fire. This will change things for decades around here. History, lives, the natural beauty, all gone.

Fuck the Wineries and their grapes, this is so much bigger then that.

The online videos are startling, total destruction of multiple neighbourhoods. The potential for that to happen was probably always there and exists for many other California neighbourhoods surrounded by so much dry vegetation.
Along with the survival kit you need to have ready an escape kit.

We will begin taking donations next week for household goods. I know of 3 families that were renters with no insurance.

The idea is to have things ready to move the moment these families find a place. Of course that is a battle onto itself.

Props to the CHP aerial crews. :hail

Rescued 44 trapped people, 5 dogs and even a cat.
Thank you!!

I'm not as bad off as people who's families have lost everything - but I'm watching the Atlas fire come over from Napa from my house. Smoke all day and now glow at night. 13 miles as the crow flies. Its just up to the wind what happens since there are no resources to fight it.

I have friends who's families lost everything in Santa Rosa. One's mom didn't even have time to get shoes on.

Man, I lost everything in this fire again . I don't think I'll be a motorcyclist for a while. I finally just set up a nice garage to work on all my bikes. Oh well, I got my ass kicked in the Valley Fire in 2015 as well. I know what's ahead, but it sucks. I unfortunately left to go help an elderly couple who were Terrified and couldn't drive at 1am, but then i wasn't able to make it back home to grab a few prized possessions. My family is safe so that's more important to me.

I just finished working Mutual Aid OT with the Sonoma County SO and Santa Rosa PD. We started with scene security as the shelters, and then supplemented Santa Rosa PD with calls for service.

It looks post-apocalyptic in northeast Santa Rosa. Mark West Springs and Fountaingrove Parkway are just ash. I've never seen anything like it in person.

Hats off man. You're my hero for the day. I hope what you lost comes back around somehow.

So sorry. Way to go helping others in the middle of such a disaster. :applause

Fuuuu. You're the guy who commutes to SF every day from lake county, aren't you?

Read this dude's story:

"Well, I wouldn't be alive if I didn't drive. Our house was towards the top of a hill, and our only escape was down that one road.
Breathing wasn't on my mind, but you can hear me take a couple of deep breaths in the video. I was just focused on making it out.
My car smells like a fire pit. Further down the road, I lost visibility and ended up crashing into a boulder. My Chevy Cruze took a solid chunk out of the front end, but the airbags miraculously didn't deploy and I was able to keep going. My dad's truck lost a tire on the way (also going off road from poor visibility) and he limped down the hill on a rim. We abandoned the truck from there.
As for timing....5 minutes before I shot this, I was in bed. We got out because we got lucky and moved quickly when we realized what was happening. We were minutes away from not having that chance. The house was surrounded by fire when we pulled out"

Wow, the smoke is thick down here in El Sobrante!

I can't imagine how thick it is closer to the fires!
