AMA NEW SCHEDULE

It's easier to pull off 3 races 1 time than it is to create a whole 12 stop series. I'm not saying JU didn't have his struggles but I'm sure he leveraged a lot of his experience/connections to pull it all off.

I think DMG got the raw end of the stick on some of this. The Moto industry, going back to my incestuous statement, quite literally turned their back on DMG and put a thumb to their nose, with a figure it out yourself statement. That is not how you support your industry.

My statement about FT is more in regards to employees, a LOT of the Road Race employees are Flat Track employees as well. If I worked both and got fired for 1, not sure I would stick around.

I think you have that backwards. DMG pushed the factories out trying to make it NASBIKE with "all bikes being equal" kind of crap and that's not what the factories or fans really want so pretty much everyone put their money elsewhere. DMG just simply can't come to grips, admit they made a mistake and ask for outside help. Instead they just keep making more and more bad decisions.

Hmmm, Maybe this is the ultimate plot of Dorna after all... :laughing

EDIT: Maybe all ^^ was a bit late. :laughing

Why didn't the factories turn to AFM/WERA/CRMA and start supporting there? You push me out of the nationals, fine. I will go and spend less money in the amateurs while fostering relationships.

But they didn't do that.

We (as an industry) need to take some responsibility for these failures.

I would agree to an extent. But at the same time, where would you go? You still need/want as much coverage as possible for your $. Club racing is club racing. They do get some support but if they aren't going to get the exposure... :dunno

Even the Superbike shootout, while it was GREAT and I want to see it again, didn't get a lot of coverage/attendance. I do have it in my favorites list and will actually be watching, but a month later kind of sucks.

Whoever took over AMA Pro Racing in 2008 was destined to fail. The economic collapse would have had the same devastating effect on pro road racing. The industry was riding a tide of easy credit which disappeared. No argument that DMG made many missteps but pro road racing in the U.S. would have suffered a serious decline anyway. Anyone who thinks the manufacturers would have continued to spend when their sales dropped by two-thirds and their customer base was unemployed and unable to get credit is high. Really high.

At this point, a new organizer is needed. There is so much baggage attached to DMG that only a completely new goup could generate any goodwill for the sport. Even if DMG offered a 12-race schedule, $100,000 purse and free HD TV and streaming for every round next year, fans would still be convinced the series is crap. New organizers with a similar AMA Pro Racing package to what we have in 2013 (Dorna or whoever) would get praise from the community simply for not being DMG. Its not rational but its true.

DMG brought a lot of well-earned hate on themselves, no question. One still has to consider the possibility there might not be any pro road racing right now. AMA didn't want it anymore and no one else stepped up. I don't know if we have hit bottom yet but I'm still hopeful things will turn out for the better with a new organizer.

WERA has TV coverage next year. It will be interesting to see if there is any corporate/factory support.

side note: I know some AMA riders that have to use CMRA contingency money to keep racing in the AMA :facepalm :laughing

Yakoo...

The reason why there wasn't support from day one was because they did come in and start changing shit like crazy. In the midst of change shit... they told the most important players to fuck off or play by their rules. From a minute EVERYONE fucked off but i believe it Yamaha was the 1st to jump back into the pool at that they made sure everyone wasn't looking. Then Zook found out and jumped in with them. Shit even riders were jumping ship

Yes the economy tanked in 09 but not 99% of fans and players.

The timing was terrible, indeed. But while the manufacturers would have CUT-BACK support, I don't think they all would have just stopped completely, if it was not for Roger Edmondson and Jim France. I really have little doubt about this situation. Sometimes, the talk about what the Japanese manufacturers would or would not do, from MotoGP on down, is ridiculous. If you have ever dealt with one of the major companies, you would understand. Which is why I have repeatedly said, "Honda will never take Rossi back." DMG screwed the money by insulting the only people supporting the series with any real dough. Sayonara, suckers.

WERA announced TV coverage. It will be interesting to see how the financials of that work out.

I just watched the first MAVTV airing of the Superbike shootout and I have 1 thing to say.

Why couldn't AMA Pro do it like this? Why must they insist on having people announcing that just rub people the wrong way?!

Ok, 2 things. WANT MOAR! :teeth

So whats the deal with fanschoice.tv for barber? I didn't see anything on their website?

???

http://www.fanschoice.tv has a picture of Danny Eslick on the Trimph and says Live AMA Road Racing June 21, 22 in the first slide on the home page slide show.

Remember this is the first of the new AMA 2-day event schedule weekends. No bikes on track today. Upside is there is one less day for things to go wrong.

LOL, they added it just after I made that post (Someone has to keep them honest I guess). Also a camera is live now.

What a shitshow AMA Pro has become. I'll be at the event all three days luckily, so I'll get to see it all. Damn shame though for those guys out there racing.

If Dorna truly has any plans (and I'm not counting on any rumors, no matter where they're published), that'd be all the more reason to deny any help for TV coverage.
