AMA NEW SCHEDULE

Pretty bad times. Damn. Five rounds?

For AMA so far unfortunately...the behind the scenes could prove to be pretty interesting and very gossip worthy! Should know shortly if the back end hoopla results in front end coolness...

Popcorn comment is best yet!

Popcorn vendor said it wasn't worth his time showing up.

You owe me a keyboard!! :rofl :rofl

I REALLY hope so. I really do. This is some painful stuff right now

I read that article and I had to agree with him. Hell, at this point they have nothing to lose and it might just generate a little interest. At this point, this is just a sad affair. 5 rounds. Why even bother...

everything I've read this offseason about AMA tells me that DMG thinks that this year is different.... they've reduced the schedule to really "focus" on those rounds, to get good promotions and production from everyone, to blah blah blah. really, IMO they are just fooling themselves and nothing is different. maybe internally, things have changed a little. but the product does not seem to be better, it may actually be worse.

So basically ducati motogp

so much to say, so little want to - maybe that's a good thing

I'm gonna start with eating some crow first

I truly thought the AMA had the racers and fans in their best interest 2 years ago. I truly thought they had their racers in interest last year.

I can now see, I am wrong.
my apologies Alex, you were correct

I now find it difficult to support a "league" that cannot support itself. I do not know what the future holds but I do hope it's more then what it offers today.

My OVERALL concerns is regarding what this does to our future/potential racers? Knowing several DSB guys are going to be racing club as well... what does that do to our up and coming (read: children) racers? Hopefully nothing...

oh well, I hope all the best to Aub, Jess and crew but they've got some tough qestions to answer... which I don't think will ever get answered.

My reaction to that article: Yeah, there are a lot of naysayers regarding the current state of AMA. But they aren't saying that it can't be done, they are saying that the current management is unable or unwilling to do it. So yes, someone else stepping in and making it happen is exactly what is needed. John's proposal of the Superbike Triple Crown isn't in defiance of the naysayers, it is enabled by them.

+1 to the F* YA!

Hmmm is totally right…would be cool to have the AMA pros back at Sonoma. It's not been the same without a good show there, which we haven't had since about 2007 or so...

So I take it JU hasn't contacted you about piggybacking at AFM? I ask because of this specific quote: "The current plan calls for dropping a single Superbike race and a single Sportbike race into three already scheduled regional race weekends within a four-week period."

Here is my problem... JU has been one of the biggest supporters for this fucked up situation. One of the few people with the power to do something good for the sport but instead has consistently blamed everything else but Ama and dmg. Now he wants to play HERO.... Meh. .. I have never really been a fan of him soley for the reason he has so much pull but yet chose to do nothing until now when to sport is on its death bed.

The industry is a weird one EVERYONE is afraid to speak their mind and won't dare say when something is gravely wrong for fear of repercussions.

It's time for AFM the open up a PRO weekend at SONOMA (with or without JU) and brand it as PRO SUPER BIKE AFM. Run the same format as WSBK and get a ton of volunteers.

i dont think that is true at all. IIRC, most of the articles written that blame the fans for not showing up etc, were op-eds written by other people. i can only rem 2 articles recently that JU actually wrote, the 4-5 parter about electronics and rules and this one. the guy really holds his tongue a lot. of course, now i gotta go back and check to see what he actually wrote. so i could be wrong.
