BARF Militia

That is sweet. I like the P22s a lot. Sadly it is the one gun the wife kept in the divorce. I'll get another one someday though.

Mine in 10 days. I know it's not the best .22LR, but I'm thinking of getting a P99 down the road:

Right on! :thumbup

I was checking out semi-auto .22's at Trader's last week, but they didn't have any of the P22. They had a .40 P99 for a Sale Price that looked like a good buy, but I don't remember the price. Around $500, I think.

I was impressed with the Sig Trailside, though, that's a nice gun.

Say, what year does the new law take effect, that requires all handguns to have magazine safeties & loaded chamber indicators?

2050 I hope :(

I have a Trailside Target and my brother has a standard one. They are very accurate with target ammunition but both of ours has been pretty finicky about ammo and get gummed up really quickly with lubed .22 ammo. It also needs weights on the end of the barrel to make it balance correctly. It sure is a pretty gun and made in Switzerland by Hammerli though.

To tell the truth I don't even use it that much anymore. My Buckmark Camper is pretty much just as accurate and a lot more reliable. I'll probably pick up the .22 kit for the Kimber, but I like the P22 cause it's so small.

As for the law, I believe in '06 they need to have at least one of the two features and on '07 both. I'll be picking up a few new pistols this year.

Ratters, did you run CCI Minimag through the P22? Not much info. on recommended ammo.

No CCI stuff except one mag of vipers that worked fine. I used some Remmington stuff and some Winchester Dynapoints and some Winchester Target-X stuff. Not one FTF. Some of the early ones had magazine problems that resulted in feeding problems but the one I had was completely reliable. Only had about 400 rounds through it though.

Aw nuts, that is what I don't want. That's exactly the same issue I had with my Beretta 87T - it'd get gummed up real quick and not function right. I have a Marvel conversion for my Springfield, but it requires the highest velocity ammo I can find, currently that's been CCI Vipers. At the gun show, I picked up a big box of that, plus the Stingers, and some Winchester high-velocity stuff, we'll see what works.
Bummer. I like the look and feel of the Trailside, and the magazines seemed like they'd be real easy to load without killing the fingers holding down the spring.

The last .22LR semi-auto I had that worked non-stop was my S&W .22A, maybe I'll see if I can find one of those or a Buckmark.

I wonder if Sig will get their new little .22 into CA before the end of the year?

The Rugers are really nice and reliable too. I've been looking at the P512 which has the five inch bull barrel. Friend of mine has the govt. target model and that thing is really accurate.

This hunter model looks pretty cool as well, though it's a bit pricey at $500+:

Hey-

I just wanted to share this---

I was over at a friends house and he was showing me his collection.

He handed me a firearm and stepped out of the room...

He showed me two other earlier and told me to dry fire one that had a very nice action-

He removed the magazine and handed me #3... as he walked out of the room; low and behold and unbeknownst to him-

I found a live round in the chamber.

So all those times people have tried to drill in your head "treat all firearms as if they are loaded" payed off today...

Thanks for posting that. Sometimes that shit happens, and it's good to know your gun fundamentals so people don't get hurt.

I've had my Buck Mark for a few years now, and it's been great. I don't shoot targets, but I have NO trouble making water bottles dance from 40ft and it's never missed jacking a round, even tho I'm lazy about cleaning it

That was one of the best buys I ever made ! I really wanted the Ruger (had them before) but got the Buck Mark 'cause I was feeling cheap

i resently moved to california from nevada and i brought my guns with me. but i am stuck with a problem. i have an ak47 but no time or place to shoot it. can i sell it without getting in trouble? if i can what would an Norinco AK47 in almost perfect condition be worth here?

It is a felony to have brought it into the state. Hide it and don't speak of it again.

That said, there are thousands of unregistered assault weapons in the state.

Don't try to sell it though.

Listen to Ratters. What you should have said was "I recently moved from NV to CA and left all my CA-defined assault weapons, and non-DOJ approves "unsafe handguns" in Nevada, and am wondering if I can have my out-of-state relative sell them to someone else outside of CA.

Go here, and read the following articles:

Handgun Registration Requirements for New California Residents

Frequently Asked Questions - Assault Weapon Registration

Latest Information about Large Capacity Magazines, Assault Weapon Registration Requirements and Regulations

(I thought there was a rule that you couldn't bring into the state handguns not certified as "safe" by DOJ drop-testing, but didn't see that spelled out on the FAQ, you would want to verify that, though. They have a phone number you can call, where the people are very helpful.)
