Wow, any more clips or just that one?

**EDIT: what is he saying at the end? I assume he's an instructor... :confused

He's either retarded, or British. :laughing :p

First time I saw it, I was thinking he had Downs' or something...

Ok, noob question...

Why is he holding the gun low during the first few shots in most of those clips?

How can you aim that way?

He's close-range point shooting.

The theory is, when the target's 3-5 feet away, you hold the gun close to yourself so the criminal can't grab or deflect it. Since the target is so close, you're not likely to miss if you can point the gun straight ahead.

It takes some practice, though. We did it in reserve (law enforcement) officer training, and it's a bit tricky, takes some getting used to. Not difficult, mind you, but if you've never tried it, it's a bit odd.

People at the range always put the target 21' away, but there's utility in putting it closer for practice, too.

Sabre Training Clips

He's basically saying he couldn't clear the other gun, so he went to his secondary. Or something close to that.

I was guessing he's Austrailian, but that Sabre place is located in TN, go figure.

The clip of him shooting the 45 at close range is crazy!

yeah, crazy indeed, was about to post about it. I checked out the site. Guy in the Vids is British. Has a bio and tells about the system and instructors. A bit of marketing hype I am sure, but guy seems well trained, and experienced.

I liked the reload one :cool

I'd hella like to do one of those tactical courses, but I'd rather not have to drop $500 on tactical gear like that dude has :laughing Nice vest there, buddy, keep anything important in it? :p

Anybody interested in checking out the Garand Match on June 5th?

http://www.zouaves.org/2005/2005_Garand.pdf

If you're interested in shooting, let me know and I'll sign you up as my guest. My club (SCVRC.com) has M1 Garands you can borrow for free. Ammo is included in the $25 fee for the match.

Dates are:

10:00AM May 15th @ 200yd Range Metcalf for practice and instruction if you're borrowing a Garand and/or shooting a Garand for the first time.

8:00AM June 5th @ 200yd Range Metcalf for the Garand Match

First come, first serve. I won't know how many Garands I will have available for my guests until this Saturday night so you may be SOL if you can't commit early. No "maybes".

heck yeah, I am interested. For the practice/instruction too since I havent fired a M1 in a long time, should probably brush up on it (if there is enough spaces open) Too bad we cant use M1A's. Will there be open range afterwards?

If a total newbie wants to do this, and there is a shortage of rifles, give them priority over me, since I have done this before.

This Sunday, most likely. Not sure about the 5th but the Zouaves generally run an open range after the regular matches.

Aight. Worse come to worse, you can borrow one of John's M1s for the match, but he won't be there this Sunday.

Just as a general note to anybody interested. Shooting in the practice or the match qualifies you for the Civilian Marksmanship Program which will essentially allow you to order Garands, Enfields, Springfields and some target rifles through the mail. No FFL, no dealer, nada. You get your certificate, mail in a check, and UPS shows up at your door with a rifle a few weeks later.

Somewhat questionable aesthetically, but will probably outlive me :thumbup :cool

Geez, it's not a fasion statement, it's a gun!:twofinger

I bought it because of the price and it had all the features I wanted. Double action, no safety (double action is inhearantly safe), decocking lever, the sights can be changed out and it holds 11 rounds (10+1). I plan to use it as my carry weapon and to have in the gas station when I work. .40 cal is minimum (IMO) for single shot stopping power on a human, but I did consider the 9mm due to weight.

Can't wait to get it out and go shooting.

That's funny how you bought a gun based on a myth: stopping power. :twofinger

Penetration + permanent cavity and you're good to go, lucky for you .40S&W is pretty good at both ;)

May I ask how much?

BASTID! :cry

I can't wait to move to free america.

And stopping power is not a myth. The more shock to the person's system, the more likely that they will stop whatever they are doing and their body will shut down.

Shoot a person with a pellet gun, then with a 454 Casul, and tell me stopping power is a myth.

Now making them fly backwards through a plate glass window, sure is a myth, but that is not stopping power.
