Rotate your pistol 90* :twofinger

Just come out to a group shoot, many of us are playing with new toys and we love giving advise to make shooting more fun.

I'm down. Where do you usually shoot? I went to Sunnyvale R&G this past weekend. They only had 25 yard targets, so it was a bit tougher for me.

It's traveled, I know we should set up a South Bay shoot.
Previous locations included USI and Chabot, maybe someone down there can set it up. (Last time we were two hours early and had to talk to each other :barf )

Come on out to USI. It's in Concord, so a bit of a trek from you, but I'll bring an assortment for you to try if you're so inclined.

South Bay we really need to setup a day of shotguns at Coyote Valley...

if anyone was looking for a clean cz97b pm me for details. I'm still on the fence as i bought too many guns this year and can pass it along. all paperwork will be done at Jackson Arms in SSF

Cool, will have to do that. I just bought more ammo, so waiting for that to arrive.

I want to pick up some Kydex for making grip fins. What's a good thickness? Any suggestions for source?

My plan is to do something pretty simple, just cut out a piece of the right shape, drill two holes in the left wall of the grip, and use a couple stainless button head allens and nuts in the grip to hold the fin to it. No wrap. I might try forming it a little depending on comfort, but that would be later. I don't quite understand why all of them I see are wraps, it seems excessive.

Might be interested, I've got a Wilson KZ-45-sized hole in my guncase. :mad

Probably because no one wants to drill holes in their grip. The wrap around style can be removed easily that way for use outside of Ca. and will look better too. I would think the hardware would be bothersome to the hand when shooting as well if it was in the grip itself. If you are using original style grips then no big deal. I have enough that I started throwing brand new ones away because the stock grips suck and I won't use them. If you have a more expensive aftermarket grip like most folks than you probably don't want holes in it or sharp edges of steel poking through it.

Anyone have a list of SSE handguns they are buying before the New Year? Saw a few threads on Calguns where guys have 4 handguns essentially on order.

There's a couple out there I'd like but hate to buy something just to buy it because after Dec 31st I wont.

Button head isn't exactly sharp. I was planning on trying it with an A2 grip, although I only have one spare. If I pull the fin off I doubt I'll really notice a couple 5mm holes. If I do a new grip is cheap enough.

I mostly want to try this way because it's a lot easier than doing a wrap. I've never worked with Kydex before.

Why is that a bad reason? If you want one and won't be able to buy it in the future you should buy it now.

I bought a CZ SP-01 Shadow tuned by CZCS. There are a number of guns I would have preferred to save up for and acquire as funds permit but that is no longer a luxury we posses. I had to pick only one and this rare custom shop version just happen to become available at the same time. Buy 'em now.

It wasn't the head I was thinking of but the nut side that might cause you grief. If that's the way you want to set it up then by all means go for it. It might be worth your time to get some extra and experiment with the kydex and see what you can do. You might even want to start making your own holsters and mag carriers. Ya never know.

It's not bad, I just don't like the idea of buying something now I dont really need. I know a lot are buying CZs and I'm debating about it. I suppose it would fit my DA/SA firearm category I dont have.

Just what I needed to hear; I've been pretty much content with the state of the collection. However with SSE going bye bye I do want another firearm that shoots .308.

I only hope I don't regret buying it.

The nut will be inside the grip. It won't be the easiest to get to, but I doubt I'll be removing it too often.

So I bought a new house up in Alamo and I'll be moving there early Oct if all goes well. What ranges are there in the area? Just Chabot and Libmo?
And I'll need to find a new LGS. I am not looking forward at all to moving the contents of my garage, between the safe, contents and ammo I think I'm at about a ton of gun shit alone. <= subtle hint that I might need a hand :laughing

I just moved a 600 lb safe for someone (spent 2 days on the couch with ibuprofen after) you better start making friends :laughing
