I don't know the details on how it's black, just that it says stainless on it.

Unrelated: I want to put fixed irons on an AR. It has a Midwest Industries SS12G2 forend on it.

I've only seen 2 options that I'm really considering: Daniel Defense and Samson. Both seem a little expensive to me, at a bit over $100 for the pair. The Samson is a little cheaper but not enough to make a big difference.

Samson offers 2 front options: A2 style (ears point out) and HK style (ears point in). I'd probably go with HK style. For the rear, they offer both Same Plane and A2 style. Does the A2 style change the sight-in distance when you swap between aperture sizes, or is it something else?

If there's another quality rail-mount fixed sight option I'm open to it. Hell, plastic could work (MBUS are nice enough) but I don't want China crap no matter what the material is.

The X5 all around is just another DA/SA sig. It's most like the stainless elite with plastic grips, 5" barrel, slightly longer frame with beavertail, and target sights. If you want the awesome X5 SAO trigger in stainless, the X5 competition is the one you're after. If you don't care and would get the DA/SA, then you're better off just getting the stainless elite and losing roughly half an inch of barrel.

Keep in mind that out of all the X5 series and the stainless elite, the X5 Competition is the only one on the roster.

There are way too many choices... the correct answer is to buy them all.

Thanks. Might just get the stainless elite. As my groups get tighter, maybe I'll look into the X5 competition. Too many wants, not enough time :(

I was going to recommend Troy Industries, but then I realized they go for ~$100, for only one, not both. Either way push come to shove, they have treated my well during my shoots.

Due to politics I'm not a fan of Troy. I think you might be looking at Tritium sights, their standard sights are about the same price as DD and Samson.

Doing CZ research and now want one. Thanks!! CZ 85 combat has good reviews, off roster. Spo1 tactical in 9mm (decocker) is the other. Full size but the compacts look nice. All will be gone may 2015 :(

Pretty sure this safety equipped version is also on the roster if you don't want the decocker http://cz-usa.com/product/cz-75-sp-01-9mm-black-3-dot-sights-10-rd-mags/

It seems very hard to find anyone who has any SP-01's My FFL tried four different online ordering sources with no luck. I found a SoCal Calguns dealer and he is selling off roster pistols out the door with SSE fees included and the mags blocked for about $750. SSE and dealer fees ad $110 where I shop which is less of a fee hike than those dealers that can get them in stock seem to charge so I see no reason at all to limit myself to rostered versions.

I know you specified fixed but I see Magpul MBUS Pro steel sights regularly for $125 pair. I have a set on my carbine and love them. Some days I just can't shoot for shit with the eotech or I've got blurry eyes from getting crap in them at work so I pop it off and go irons. I wouldn't buy plastic sights no matter who made them or how cheap.

In any event, I don't think $100 is expensive for any decent gun sights so I'd pick one and just buy it.

I have MBUS on it now and they work fine, which is why I'd be ok with quality plastic sights.

not too hard to find recently at least when I looked. You can order direct from cz usa or cz custom shop but its going to be a 1-2 month wait. Ky co had some a while back that was cheap if you don't mind paying for shipping to your ffl.

I used a ffl in SJ to get mine. If you guys like the 75, you can also look for a springfield p9 which is basically same thing.

p9 on top and my sp-01 on the bottom

Held a P-01 and 75b. Both felt great. P-01 felt great but it's the same size as a Glock 19. Locating a SP-01 is tough. Be nice to find a Sp-01 tactical but it's off roster. The cz 85 is interesting, decocker model 9mm I believe. I can't decide and not sure I wanna throw down $750.

What barrel length would be better for an ar pistol? I like the looks and fire breathing of a 7.5" but it seems like alot of people suggest a 10" for better reliability.

I've got a 7.5". Two of my buddies built 7.5" at the same time.

All of us have tried different ammo and none of us has had any issues at all.

We all bought AP uppers, barrels, Gas blocks, and tubes.

CGF wins 10 day waiting period lawsuit. Not sure what the means in regards to how soon it will take effect.

Plaintiffs asked for 180 days to come up with new rules to comply. No word on if it was granted but the way I read it even though it's technically effective immediately it'll take at least a month or two for stores to consult lawyers, make sure everything's good, and actually start implementing it. Still...it's progress. The dominoes are lining up nicely for if/when we ever get Peruta finalized.

The 10-day waiting periods of California Penal Code § 26815(a) and § 27540(a) violate the Second Amendment as applied to those individuals who successfully pass the BFEC/standard background check prior to 10 days and who are in lawful possession of an additional firearm as confirmed by the AFS system;
a. If the BFEC/standard background check for such an individual is completed and approved before 10-days, Defendant shall immediately release the firearm for delivery to such individual and shall not wait the full 10-days;

Holy shit. I thought it was owns firearm and has ccw, or owns firearm and has COE. Turns out it's owns firearm or has ccw or has COE.

Technically you could apply for a COE and skip the 10 day wait on your first purchase. But that begs the question... how the hell do you get a CCW without a firearm?! Or does it read that you have a CCW that is not registered in AFS (pre-reg), but the CCW permit basically exempts you from the 10 day wait.

I can see BOF dicking everyone and waiting a full 9-10 days before running AFS.
