You know what sucks? I was trying to google Traders in San Leandro, but coming up blank. I couldn't remember the exact name of the store, so I tried The Traders, Traders Sports, Traders Sporting Goods, etc, all nothing. Google found tons of trading and sporting goods stores in the Bay Area, but not Traders.

Getting suspicious, I did a Yahoo search for Traders Sports, San Leandro, and the store was the first returned result.

SCREW YOU GOOGLE and your anti-gun policies!!!

Enter: trader sports san leandro

Google is your friend.

Good thing that's not an AR (it's n FAL).

That looks like someone went through their junk pile and took every spare random piece of "tactical" stuff and stuck it all together to make a gun.

I prefer buttstocks that I can get a cheek weld on (har har, cool pun), and that have a proper recoil pad.

its a custom fal para that allows a AR rear right and an ar stock, the really cool one has a folding ar ACE socom stock on it

I know it's not an AR 15 you nincompoop, I meant Assault Rifle.

When I fire an Assault Rifle I like to keep a grip on the heat shield in front with the shoulder strap around my elbow as a brace. Helps you really level it out if you ask me. I think it would be a little awkward with that tactical foregrip.

I'm no nincompoop, dimwit!

Those grips come from the New School of Submachine gun Shooting.

In the Old School, you kept your elbows up. Held the pistol grip, elbow way out, and held the forend, with the left elbow way out. It worked good with old-school rifle stocks and forends, and was comfy for the hands.

Now, with all the vertical stuff, the New School says keep your elbows tucked in close to your body, and pull the gun in tight. Supposedly, it's more stable, and aids weapon retention.

Hey, is there a good online primer for California gun newbs somewhere? I'd like a sort of all-in-one guide to gun ownership in this forward-thinking state of ours, starting with permits and including a clear explanation of what types of guns are legal to own. Thank you in advance.

The CA Attorney General's site is what you want: http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/

The FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS may have most of the answers you're looking for.

The Assault Weapons Identification Guide lists which rifles you CANNOT purchase, and the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale lists which handguns you CAN purchase.

Also, every year they publish a summary of the CA firearms laws, you can find the (pdf) The California Firearms Laws 2005 Publication right there.

Cool blog. Thanks. I personally prefer handguns for home defense, but that's a personal choice. I love the handgun duck taped to the stock of that shotgun. Tacticalicious. :D
